Raymond Gilliland Memorial Cup: The Raymond Gilliland Memorial Cup was played on Sunday last in Aughnamullen. There were some great football matches throughout with host club Aughnamullen emerging victorious in the end. The competition was run on a round robin format with Latton, Drumhowan, Doohamlet & Aughnamullen participating. After the round robin format had finished Aughnamullen had finished top to reach the cup final and Latton & Drumhowan finishing level in 2nd spot. After a play off between Latton and Drumhowan Latton emerged victorious to set up  a cup final decider against Aughnamullen with Drumhowan and Doohamlet playing in the Shield Final. Drumhowan defeated Doohamlet by 2-7 to 2-3 in the Shield Final whilst in the Cup final Aughnamullen defeated Latton by 1-05 to 0-04. The presentation of the cup took place in the Social Centre afterwards and they received their cups from the Gilliland Family. Many thanks is extended to Alan & Joe Gilliland and Caroline Geoghegan who presented the cup and shield to the winning Drumhowan Captain Francis Conlan and Aughnamullen Captain Christopher Geoghegan. Also thanks is extended to anyone who helped to serve food on the day thanks to all and also to the referees Martin Mc Mahon & Aidan Mc Garrell and to Latton's, Drumhowan's & Doohamlet's teams and management for participating on the day.

 

Development Draw: With the upcoming development draw only a few weeks away we would like to thank all those who bought tickets for the draw especially in the parish and those in the surrounding areas around Monaghan and further a field it is much appreciated. However if any member from the club wishes some to get extra tickets to sell on behalf of the club they can contact any committee members. The draw will take place on Saturday 9th November where there will be some great additional house prizes. More details in next weeks issue.

 

AGM: The Annual General Meeting of the Football Club takes place on Friday 29th November in the Social Centre commencing at 8pm. Nomination Forms will be sent out in the next few weeks.

 

Seniors: The following players represented Aughnamullen at Senior level throughout 2019 and many thanks is extended to them for all their hard work this year. Although no success was achieved on the field this year its onwards and upwards for the years ahead

Coffee Morning: Many thanks to all those who supported the Girls Coffee Morning on Sunday last. Report on the day will be in next weeks issue

 

Juvenile Report: The Annual Juvenile Parish League will take place on Sunday next the 20th October starting at 2.30pm. Please support this day where an array of talent will surely be on show

 

Owen Bannigan Memorial Cup: The Owen Bannigan Pool Memorial Shield competition is commencing shortly. Anyone wanting their names to be entered into the competition to contact either 0867336372 at any time or 0429745626 after 8pm for further details.

 

Vintage Day: Aughnamullen 10th Annual Vintage Day takes place on Sunday 27th October starting at 12 noon. There will be a display of vintage cars, bikes & tractors with threshing display as well. For the younger folk there is a jiving competition, dog show and amusements with side stands as well followed by live music. There will be a raffle for a bull calf with proceeds of the draw to Castleblayney Cancer and St Oliver Plunketts National School.  For further details please contact PJ Forde, Dominic Harte or Pamela Sheridan or any committee member. Sympathy: Sympathy is extended to Daughter Jeanette and Son John and extended family on the death of Mary West Sragh may god have mercy on her soul. Sympathy is also extended to Fr Owen Gorman on the death of his aunt Sheila O Brien may god have mercy on her soul.  

 

Challenge for Elaine Tate: Monaghan will play Cavan in an Inter-county Senior challenge game to raise funds for Elaine Tate, wife of Anthony Tate who formally played with Rockcorry on Sunday December 1st in Clones. All proceeds will go towards adapting the family home to aid Elaine in her recovery from recent illness. Tickets for the game are now on sale priced €10. Please support this worthwhile cause.
