Doohamlet club notes

July 17, 2019

Seniors:  Doohamlet travelled to Currin on Friday evening last and came home with a hard earned one point victory.  Doohamlet had the majority of possession in the first half but definitely hadn’t brought their shooting boots with a succession of wides and missed goal chances.  Currin were more clinical in front of goal with ace forward Jack McCarron a constant threat and when he netted his second goal Currin had opened up a six point gap.  Colin  Walshe was pushed more forward and Doohamlet began to reduce the deficit with points from Hugh McGinn, Barry McBennett and Barry McGinn.  Colin Walshe found the Currin net just before the break to leave both sides level at half time.

The second half was an end to end game with both sides trading score for score, Ryan Ingram, Conor Marray and Damian Ward were outstanding in the Doohamlet defence and Colin Walshe and Barry McBennett were  driving Doohamlet forward.  As the game entered the closing stages a draw looked the likely result until Paul McArdle played a one-two and with that devastating left foot stroked over the winning score.  Good to see Conor Marray return to action after his lengthy injury layoff and perform well while others to shine were Hugh McGinn Damian Ward  and Micheal Marray.  Our next Senior fixture is away to Inniskeen this Friday evening.  Throwin 8pm.

Congrats:  Huge Congratulations to Monaghan Minor team and Management on their Ulster success last weekend and a special mention to our own JoJo McDonnell who is part of the backroom team.
