U13s- U13 Division 4 Cup Final. Drumhowan 1-17. Sean’s 4-6. What a game, a thrill a minute in the searing heat in Gavan Duffy Park Monaghan. These young warriors made it an unforgettable week for the club. Drumhowan came out of the blocks real fast reeling out five unanswered points. Slowly a big strong Sean’s side started to find their way and got on the scoreboard. However, they were rocked on the 17th minute mark when Darragh Mc Adam cut through the Sean’s defence and rifled the ball to the net. Sean’s response was instant with a goal and a point with half time score Drumhowan 1-9 to 1-3. In the ninth minute Sean’s again found the net and two more goals in the 21st and 24th minute to go ahead for the first time. It looked at that stage that the much bigger Sean’s side had worn our young terriers down but then Tom Doherty landed a brilliant 45 to draw the game in injury time. Two late points from Evan Treanor and Jerome Lavelle sealed the deal as both sides were literally out on their feet. Captain fantastic Tom Doherty lifted the cup to the wild acclaim of his team mates and supporters. What a week for these boys coming 6 days after their Feile All Ireland Success.
