Breakfast Morning: Our Breakfast Morning was held on Sunday morning last at Aughnamullen Social Centre. Many thanks to all who supported this fundraising initiative people from within the parish and surrounding parishes. However sincere thanks is extended to organising committee led by Angela Geoghegan Duffy & Bernie Mc Brien all those who helped out on the day and they were as follows Janet Bannigan, Margaret Forde, Bie Mc Ardle, Liz Markey, Anita Finnegan, Laura Markey, Teresa Connolly, Briege Sheridan, Ann Duffy, Rosemary Johnston, Niamh Hannah, Eilish Markey, Yvonne Murtagh, Bernie Sheridan, Rose Mooney, Debbie Mc Ardle, Dympna Swinburne, Katrina Markey, Angela Duffy, Bronagh Sheridan, Caroline Geoghegan, John Sheridan, Micheal Geoghegan & Ollie Morrisey in the Kitchen and serving our patrons. To the following people who helped out at the door and they were as follows Paddy Markey, Ian Johnston, Michael Sheridan, Paddy Murtagh, Brian Mc Ardle, John Hamilton, PJ Bannigan, Mark Duffy, Seamus Markey and to the Senior footballers who helped to prepare the hall on Saturday evening and they were Stephen Hamilton, Thomas Hughes, Lee Conlan, Stephen Ward, Patrick Sheridan, Kevin Sheridan, Eugene Bannigan, Damien Duffy & Edmond Mc Ardle. Finally to all who sponsored towards the breakfast morning and they were as follows Michael Geoghegan, PJ Markey, Tom Leanagh, Hugh Markey, John Sheridan, Jody Clarke, Gifts & Things & Lidl Castleblayney thank you all for making it a wonderful success.

 

Seniors: The Seniors played Tyholland at home on Friday evening last and came away with a crucial and well deserved win on a score line of 1-12 to 0-09. This was a game which they were mainly in control from the start and credit must be given to the boys from putting in a battling performance. In the first half the home side ran into a 3 point lead after 15 minutes and although Tyholland reduced the lead on a number occasions the home side led at the break by 0-6 to 0-4. Into the second half the lead was further enhanced with a well worked goal to increase the lead to 5 and although Tyholland tried hard to reduce it the Aughnamullen rearguard stood firm and ran out winners by 6 points. Next game is this Saturday evening away to Table Toppers Donaghamoyne at 8pm. Best wishes is extended to the team and management.

 

Reserves: The Reserves play away to Monaghan Harps this Sunday at 2pm best wishes is extended to the team and management as they hope to continue to push on for a semi final spot.

 

Fundraising Draw: As you maybe aware the club are running a fundraising draw this year with proceeds going towards the development of a new training field adjacent to the ones that are presently being used.  Tickets for our draw cost €20 each or 3 for €50. Prizes are as follows Top prize of €5000 followed by Holiday to Europe, Tickets and overnight stay at an Ireland Rugby International and also ticket and overnight stay to a Manchester United Premier League game and also overnight stay at the Allingham Hotel Bundoran and the club would sincerely like to thank the following people who have sponsored towards our fundraising draw i.e. Nally Brothers Ltd, Lough Egish Motor Factors, Tusker Ltd, Ward Consultancy Services Ballybay, Platinum Tanks, Mourne Shooting Range, Mc Elvaney Waste & Recycling & Dignams Castleblayney. Many thanks to all the people who have bought tickets from inside our parish and outside our parish. Also many thanks to all those who have sold tickets however there is a need for more help to make sure the draw is a success so we are calling on our Senior players, parents of our juvenile players, supporters etc to come out and help with the draw and make it a success that it can be.

 

Under 13: The Under 13 team played away to Corduff on Tuesday last in Round 1 of the Cup Competition. Unfortunately on the night they came away being defeated by 5 points on a score line of 5-11 to 4-09. They have 2 games left in this format the first being this Saturday the 15th of June with a home game against Inniskeen at 12 noon where they must win to have any chance of reaching the final of the league please come out and support the team and management

 

Under 11: The Under 11 squad played Clontibret in the final of the spring league in Cloghan on Saturday last. With big numbers involving both teams there were 2 games being played together. The games were played with some brilliant point scoring by the boys in blue and also the art of defending was a joy to be hold with. After the series of games Aughnamullen emerged victorious and credit must be given to the boys and their management team of Paddy Murtagh, Martin Mc Ginn, Paul Mulligan, Martin Woods and Patrick Duffy definitely the future is bright. Their next game is in the Liam Stirrat Development league which starts on Saturday 22nd June with an away fixture against Castleblayney.

 

Annual Summer Camp: Our Annual Summer Camp is being held in Early August. Anyone willing to give a hand with the Camp to contact either Paddy Murtagh on 0872679471 or Angela Geoghegan Duffy on 0861012243. As the saying goes the more help we can get the better so any help would be much appreciated.

 

Aughnamullen Ladies: The Ladies teams had some great victories over the past week. On Friday evening last the U12 girls had a good win over Latton whilst on Monday evening last the Under 14 girls defeated Inniskeen on a score line of 6-15 to 2-12 so well done to both teams. This weeks fixtures are the Under 12 girls play away to Inniskeen on Thursday night(tonight) at 7pm whilst the Under 14 girls play away to Carrickmacross on Tuesday 18th June at 7pm and the Under 16 girls continue their league campaign with an away fixture against Carrickmacross on the 20th of June at 7pm so best wishes to all our teams.

 

Congratulations: Congratulations is extended to Damien & Karen Mooney Carrickatee  on the birth of a baby boy recently. Also congratulations is extended to John & Stephanie Sharpe Kilkitt on the birth of a baby boy.

 

Sympathy: Sympathy is extended to Mary Larkin Tossey on the death of her mother Josie Marron Corduff may god have mercy on her soul.

 

Congratulations: Congratulations is extended to former Chairman with the Club PJ Forde who celebrated his 60th Birthday recently.

 

Sidney Gilliland Memorial Cup: A number of years ago the family of the late Sidney Gilliland donated a cup to the club. If anyone knows the whereabouts of this cup could they contact Brian Mc Ardle on 0874634592 thank you.

 

Parish Tractor Run: The Parish Tractor Run has been set aside for Sunday 21st July. This is a wonderful occasion for the parish and all support is needed to make it a success again this year.

 

Michelle Mc Cabe Memorial Fun Run: The Michelle Mc Cabe Memorial Fun Run is on Friday 21st June from Aughnamullen Social Centre commencing at 8pm. Come out an support this great cause thank you.
