Doohamlet club notes

April 17, 2019

Shoe City S.F.L.:  Doohamlet picked up their first  Senior league points on Saturday evening last with a well-deserved win against Currin.  Played in difficult conditions with a chilling wind on their back in the first half Doohamlet took a while to adapt to the conditions and hit a number of wides before Barry McGinn opened the scoring.  Currin struck for a decisive goal playing against the breeze but Doohamlet raised their game in the second quarter and some great scores from Hugh McGinn (1), Colin Walshe (2), Jamie Walshe (1), Paul McArdle (1) and Barry McBennett (2) had Doohamlet going in at half time 0-11 to 1-03 ahead.

Doohamlet now playing against the breeze in the second half played a more possession game and produced some nice passages of play. Further scores from Barry McBennett, Oisin O’Neill and Declan Walsh were enough to see us gain out first victory this season at Senior level.

Final score: Doohamlet 0-18  Currin 1-10.

James Casey once again pulled off two great saves and Conor Marry continues to impress at full back with Declan Walsh, Colin Walshe and Sean Markey  a very dominant half back line.  Barry McBennett and Jamie Walshe are forming a formidable midfield partnership and Hugh McGinn, Paul McArdle and Damian Ward were most impressive in the forward line.

Doohamlets next Senior fixture is against Inniskeen in Doohamlet on Saturday week next 27th April.
