2019 club championship draws

While a ball has yet to be kicked in any of the club competitions for the coming year, clubs are already aware as to who they are facing in their first games in their respective championships, after the draws were made at last Monday night’s County Committee meeting in the Entekra Monaghan GAA Centre of Excellence at Cloghan.

In the senior football championship Reigning champions Scotstown open the defence of their title against Doohamlet, while last year’s defeated finalists Ballybay are out in the preliminary round against next door neighbours Latton. Senior football league winners Truagh take on Castleblayney, while. Currin, who were promoted from intermediate last year face Inniskeen.

The intermediate football championship has also thrown up some exciting pairings with Magheracloone, who were relegated from senior at the end of last year, out in the preliminary round against Tyholland and Monaghan Harps who were also relegated they take on next door neighbours Sean McDermotts.

Meanwhile in the Junior football championship Toome, who for a while contested their relegation from intermediate ranks face Clones in their opening game while Blackhill, who were also relegated take on Eire Og.

INTERMEDIATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.

Corduff v Aughnamullen,

Cremartin V. Emyvale,

Killanny v Donaghmoyne.

JUNIOR FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.

Preliminary Round:

Drumhowan V. Rockcorry,

Oram v Killeevan.

Round 1A:

Aghabog V Scotstown,

Blackhill V. Eire Og,

Toome v Clones.

This weekend Monaghan will be represented by the Clontibret Tráth na gCeist team of Ryan Greenan, Charlie Mone, Tomas O Connor and Conor Sherlock with coach Aidan Deighan, in Castlebar at the All Ireland Final of Scór na nÓg.
