Ulster Club Championship: St. Enda’s 2-14 Doohamlet 3-05
Doohamlet travelled to Belfast on Sunday morning last for this first round clash against St Enda’s in Corrigan Park and for some reason never got going. Doohamlet were without the services of Colin Walshe and Paul McArdle and these players were always going to be missed at this level of competition. St Enda’s raced into a three point lead before Doohamlet registered their first score through Barry McGinn who was excellent throughout and when Doohamlet were awarded a penalty which was dispatched by Barry McBennett, the scores were all level. St Enda’s replied with a goal of their own and went in at half time leading by five 1-07 to 1-02.
Doohamlet played their best football in the third quarter with halftime substitute Oisin O’Neill finding the net with his first touch and points from Barry McBennett and Barry McGinn kept us in touch. When Jamie Walshe found the net for goal number three Doohamlet were only one point behind and a frantic finish looked likely but credit to St Enda’s they kept their composure and weathered the Doohamlet revival and tagged on crucial scores to see them into the semi-final. Best of Luck to St. Enda’s in the remainder of the competition.
Doohamlet GFC would like to thank every one of our supporters who travelled last Sunday. Your support was very much appreciated.
