Emyvale club notes

November 06, 2018

Ulster Championship – What a difference a week can make !! Unfortunately our seniors fell short on Sunday last in Omagh where they were beaten by Red Hughs of Donegal. Emyvale got off to a flying start and dominated the early exchanges racing into a three point lead after only four minutes played, but Red Hugh’s hit back with a goal and two points and by the tenth minute we ahead 1-02 to 0-04. The final twenty minutes of the first half saw Emyvale regained their composure and got a grip of this game kicking four points before the break and going in at half time leading on a score line of 0-08 to 1-03. Emyvale started the second half well and by the 39 minute had kicked three unanswered points to open up five point lead, but within a couple of minutes Red Hugh’s rallied to kick three points of their own. Emyvale seemed to steady the flow with David Mc Alister kicking his seventh point of the game leaving the score 0-12 to 1-06 after 46 minutes played. However that was to be Emyvale’s last score of the game and Red Hugh’s dominated the last quarter of the game kicking seven unanswered points to run out eventual winners on a score line of 1-13 to 0-12. Unfortunately this brings down the curtain for our seniors for 2018. Well done to players and management on a long season and winning the domestic championship. We will look forward to 2019 which we hope will bring further silverware for this team!!
