Senior: The Senior team exited the Championship on Saturday last when they were defeated by Doohamlet on a score line of 2-12 to 0-12. In the first half there were very little separating the sides with Doohamlet holding a slender 0-6 to 0-4 lead. Doohamlet opening the scoring from a free which was quickly cancelled out by a Michael Bannigan point from play. Doohamlet scored 4 more points from frees by Barry Mc Bennett to lead by 0-5 to 0-1 after 11 minutes however a Michael Bannigan free reduced the arrears to 3. A fine individual Paul Connolly point with couple of minutes to go before the interval left it at 0-5 to 0-3. The last 2 scores of the half were frees by Michael Bannigan & Doohamlets Paul Mc Ardle. In the second half Aughnamullen opened the scoring from a Michael Bannigan free however this was cancelled out by another Doohamlet point and they further increased their lead with a Kevin Mc Ardle goal and another Barry Mc Bennett pointed free however Aughnamullen scored 2 fine quick points from the boot of Kevin Sheridan and this was followed by 2 further points by Pete Dooney (45) and Mark Mc Ardle to leave it 1-08 to 0-09 after 12 minutes. Another Barry Mc Bennett free increased the lead for Doohamlet and a goal by midfielder Jamie Walshe left Doohamlet 6 clear and this proved the catalyst for victory for Doohamlet with 2 more points by Ciaran Mc Manus and Paul Mc Ardle.   2 Michael Bannigan pointed frees and a Sean Sheridan point from play again reduced the lead but that was as close as they come and Doohamlet emerged winners. Minors: The Minors lost the Connolly Meats Minor League Div 1 Replay on Wednesday of last week when they were defeated by Magheracloone on a score line of 2-12 to 0-13 in front of a large attendance in Inniskeen. This was a game where the Mitchells ran into an early 2 goal burst and this proved the difference in the end in the final outcome. In the first half the Magheracloone came out of the blocks and scored a quick fire goal.  Aughnamullen scored from Tiernan Duffy but Magheracloone came back with a goal and 2 points without reply to race into a 7 point lead. Aughnamullen scored the next 3 without reply from Ryan Connolly, Darren Geoghegan & Tiernan Duffy. Two more points were scored by Magheracloone to again increase it to 6. A Joel Wilson point reduce the lead but again Magheracloone pointed and the last 2 scores of the half were shared with our score coming from Darren Geoghegan to leave it to 2-06 to 0-06 in favour of the Mitchells. In the second half the trend of the scores being traded equally continued with our scores coming from Tiernan Duffy(2) and Ryan Connolly and after 15 minutes of the second half it was 2-09 to 0-09. A Tiernan Duffy point reduced it to 5 however Magheracloone scored 3 of the next 4 to go 7 clear with our score coming from Shane Forde and the boys scored the final 2 points of the game from Tiernan Duffy & Jason Duffy to leave the boys 5 short at the end. Although no success at the end this was in no means a gallant effort from the boys this year and credit must go to them and the management team of John Joe Gorman, David Shevlin & Brian Mc Ardle, First Aid person Rose Mooney and also to Angela Duffy who stood in for 1 game Team v Magheracloone Ryan Johnston, Liam Duffy, Oisin Hamill, Kieran Marron, Sean Hamill, Kieran Duffy, Aaron Mc Gee, Shane Forde(0-1), Tiernan Duffy(0-6), Jason Duffy(0-1), Joel Wilson(0-1), Shay Duffy, Thristan Keenan, Darren Geoghegan(0-2), Ryan Connolly(0-2) Subs used Aaron Hamilton for Thristan Keenan, Martin Sheridan for Ryan Connolly, Gavin Bannigan for Aaron Mc Gee(inj).
