Drew Wylie was delighted with the resilience Monaghan showed in their Allianz Football League victory over Kerry.

The long-serving defender, who made his first appearance of the season as a half-time substitute, hailed the Farney County for withstanding the Kingdom's second half comeback with just 14 men following Barry Kerr's straight red card.

"We showed great character, particularly in the last 10 minutes with a man down," Wylie told RTÉ.

"We got a couple of turnovers and a couple of good scores. It was good that we finished strong."

"We talked about it before the game that we wanted to start strong. If you let Kerry get ahead of you, we've seen in the last two games what damage they can do. We always knew they would come back at us, but we ground it out and stuck to our game plan."
