Kieran and Darren Hughes could both miss Monaghan's national football league Division One clash with Mayo.
The Farney County welcome the 2017 All-Ireland finalists to Clones on Sunday, January 28th and manager Malachy O'Rourke has confirmed that he could have to plan without the Scotstown siblings. Kieran is currently on holiday, while Darren picked up an injury during last weekend's heavy Dr McKenna Cup defeat to Donegal.
"Darren got a dead leg going into a challenge near the end. It doesn't look like anything too serious but dead legs can keep you out for a couple of weeks," O'Rourke told The Irish News. "Hopefully it's not too severe, hopefully he'll have a few nights off and be back. We need all our experienced fellas. We've a lot of fellas coming back from injury and doing rehab, so we need all the experienced heads we can get at the minute.
"Kieran's unlikely to be home for the game. There are a number of other fellas that we're nursing back. Nobody else is definitely out. All the boys are back training but they're all at different stages. It could be that over the next couple of weeks, we'll get three or four back, but we could be missing three or four. We'll know over the next couple of weeks.
"We just have to be careful with them, we don't want to bring fellas back that have injuries and them then linger on throughout the national league or even for a couple of matches."
