Roma players today wore training shirts with 'Forza Sean' emblazoned across them in support of Meath man Sean Cox.
The former Dunboyne GAA chairman was attacked by a number of Roma fans ahead of Liverpool's Champions League semi-final first-leg last Tuesday and remains in a critical condition at Walton Neurological Centre after sustaining head injuries.
Liverpool hung a Dunboyne GAA jersey in their dressingroom at the weekend, while club captain Jordan Henderson wrote to Dunboyne GAA expressing his support for Sean.
In an act of solidarity, the Roma players wore the jerseys this afternoon ahead of their second-leg clash with the Reds at Stadio Olimpico in Rome tomorrow. Thier coach Eusebio Di Francesco says: "Obviously someone who does not belong to our true fans did something very, very wrong. My thoughts and prayers go with the family."
