Patrick Tobin gains possession for St Michaels against Duleek Bellewstown in Carlanstown

St. Michaels produced a dominant display from start to finish as they eased to victory over Duleek Bellewstown in this first round match for the home side in Carlanstown on Saturday evening last. The visitors were off the mark first with two points in the opening nine minutes but it didn't take the St. Michaels lads long to find their feet with Rory O'Driscoll (1-2) and Patrick Tobin (0-1) opening their scoring. Cian Sheridan and Daithi O'Reilly also slotted over before Jason O'Donnell fired home a rebound to the net after a Patrick Tobin's effort was well blocked by the visitors 'keeper. Duleek/Bellewstown were given a life-line by means of a penalty for a foul in the square however Gavan Sweeney pulled off a brilliant save diving to his right. The visitors added another point before Lee Morris added a further point deep into injury time for a 2-6 to 0-3 interval lead.                                                 

The home sides forwards were getting the run of the house in the second period  with Sheridan, Stafford, Rogers and Ben Reilly all slotting over in quick succession. Tobin was also on hand to split the posts twice before stepping up to fire home a pile-driver from the penalty spot on 56 minutes. Lee Morris linked up well with substitute Paddy Callaghan for the final score of the match with two minutes remaining on the clock.

It was a momentous occasion for the O'Reilly family on Saturday evening as father and son Daithí and Ciarán lined out in defence for the first time for St. Michaels.
