Kildalkey 2-12 Kilmessan 2-10
Kildalkey's second string headed for Kilmessan on Sunday and despite only scoring 2 points in the second half still came home with the win.
Despite Andrew Fagan opening the scoring with a long range point it was Kilmessan who found the net first and quickly took the lead and followed up with a couple of points before hitting the net again after sloppy defending to lead 2-4 to 0-2.
Kildalkey soon woke up and started finding their range. A free from Mark Healy went all the way to the net and points from Nicky Potterton (2) and Ross Flynn was followed up by a Cathal Egan goal and the visitors were back on level terms
Flynn was on target with another free and 2 excellent long range points from play. Further scores from along Evan Fitzgerald and Nicky Potterton (2) sent Kildalkey to the dressing room 2-10 to 2-5 in front.
The second half turned out to be a low scoring affair as scores were hard to come by 3 frees from Kilmessan closed the gap but with Potterton again from a free and Mark Healy with the last point sealed the win and the 2 points for Kildalkey.
Martin Browne and Mark Healy defended bravely in the backs while Nicky Potterton and Ross Flynn kept the scoreboard ticking up front with young Potterton causing problems for his opponents with his speedy runs.
