Last year in the end we were both close to promotion but also could just as easily dropped to division 3. bert09 (Meath) - Posts: 1790 - 25/01/2017 19:35:35 1948801 Link 1 |
I would say 4th and without a last day fear of relegation would be satisfactory for me. ziggy32001 (Meath) - Posts: 8354 - 25/01/2017 20:09:38 1948809 Link 5 |
Very possible it will be something similar, but with four home games we should be in position to challenge for promotion. Good start against Kildare is vital. Need to get Harnan, McEntee and Tobin back asap seadog54 (Meath) - Posts: 2136 - 25/01/2017 20:21:10 1948811 Link 9 |
I think we have a good manager and if we get off to a good start you never know. However if I take my Meath hat off I just don't think we have enough talent in the squad to gain promotion, no manager no matter how good he is can invent good players, so I'd say we'll finish mid table, but hope I'm wrong obviously. Any idea on when McEntee will be back? Also Tobin - what happened to him?

Win 5 and lose 2 games could well be enough to get us promoted because of the nature of the teams that are in Division 2 ..they will all take points of each other and a team with 6 points (3 wins) could very well find themselves relegated to division 3 ! McEntee is out due to a recurrance of a hand injury and I think Tobin dislocated his elbow at start of OB Cup, hopefully neither is long term

Clare will be a difficult proposition especially at home. No easy games for any team

If Meath have any pride there should be no reason why we can't win our 4 home games if we don't we should be relegated and rightly so. Away games to Clare and down most definitely should be won . A win. by the Lee is a big ask. numberedjerseys (USA) - Posts: 348 - 25/01/2017 23:03:27 1948839 Link 0 |
for me we just don't have enough in the inside forward line to gain promotion imo.Be great if some player proved me wrong.

division 2 is a mine field id be happy with consolidating our position there because at the moment we are nowhere near division 1 standard and i dont like the possibility of recieving numerous hammerings next year if we do get promoted, that would set us back a few years. obviously i want meath to be back at the top level but i want us to be able to compete with them first. its a young enough squad. if we hold our own in division two and half a decent run in the championship we can go from there. just on sunday about it being a lazy day, i dont think it was i think it was more tiredness than anything so im assuming andy will change his apporach coming up to important games in the league not run them as hard

Have to say that I have rarely seen Meath play well in Navan. I dont know why this is but I dont see playing in navan as being any great advantage to Meath and other teams never fear coming here. i remember years ago and this could be well before some on the lads on here were around but meath use to play games in kells and seemed to like it. i think this was when Navan was being renovated. As a matter of interest where will meath play when navan is being renovated Foley91 (Meath) - Posts: 418 - 26/01/2017 09:29:24 1948868 Link 0 |
id imagine it would be either ashbourne or trim, more than likely trim as they have the facility for the ticketing system that the county board like to implement

Most likely Ashbourne, I'd have thought.

I'd love to see games back in the old pitch in Kells. I remember the games there in the 80's. Hardly likely. GoalsWinGames (Meath) - Posts: 303 - 26/01/2017 10:04:14 1948878 Link 0 |
whats the story with the pairc in kells? is it sold or whats being planned? be a shame to see it go. They could use grangegodden as sort of a dunganny for north meath and renovate the pitch in the town

My dad who witnessed Meath from the 1940s would tell you a bad Meath team couldn't be beaten in Kells where as the best of Meath teams were beaten in Navan. So can we play all our games in Kells please. anto_meath (Meath) - Posts: 108 - 26/01/2017 12:11:48 1948920 Link 0 |
Will Pairc Tailteann be fully closed during renovations? Or will they be able to do a phased development similar to how Croke Park was done. The problem with both Trim and Ashbourne is parking & access. At least Ashbourne has a stand but there is not enough parking to cover the numbers expected at a well attended league game. Trim also doesnt have a stand. oldsam_newsam (Meath) - Posts: 638 - 26/01/2017 12:36:16 1948925 Link 0 |
Where did the myth come from in the OP that we were close to promotion last year. We went to Portlaoise on the last day needing a result to stay up. Thats not close to promotion. RoyalBadger (Meath) - Posts: 571 - 26/01/2017 14:00:38 1948952 Link 0 |
With the right set of results we also could've gone up too, thats why people are saying it Its neither here nor there anyways as we didn't do the business ourselves. brian (Meath) - Posts: 1954 - 26/01/2017 14:26:59 1948961 Link 0 |
