Hurling 2017

(Oldest Posts First)

Apparently a few well known footballers are joining the hurling panel for 2017 and also that a few hurlers may be invited to join the football panel. Interesting times but they need not be. The Derry secretary believes both can be managed and cites Mayo's Keith Higgins as an example: http://www.hoganstand.com/ArticleForm.aspx?ID=263984

James Toher from Trim in with the footballers would be a pretty decent addition. Would Cillian O'Sullivan be one of the footballers doing hurling also?

Only problem with this is that it could create havoc with the club schedules.

That article is only relevant to the Derry hurlers and footballers. Nothing to do with Meath.

It would be bad news for Meath if a full strength Derry were in 2B. Hopefully they'll be out of contention by the time Slaughtneil lads are available.

Not sure how it could impact club schedules? As it stands clubs don't see their county players in either code till championship in April, bar the odd weekend gap in the league. It'd be impossible to give clubs any less access.

I'd imagine Toher, Douglas and Burke are the three most obvious names involved. Possibly Mark O'Sullivan too.

Don't think cillian O Sullivan played with kiltale at all last year. Hadn't seen Rathoath play during the year but I hear Bryan McMahon was performing really well for them. Adam Flanagan maybe another apart from the obvious lads.
