Yes all games at home I think colleges and as Meath opted to step up last year we get home advantage

That looks like a good draw. All three games are winnable, especially at home.

First match v Offaly potential double header with the Wicklow match in the O'Byrne?

Possibly

The matches on the 15th clash though. Footballers are away in Laois and hurling are at home vs Kildare :( I hope one of these will be refixed to give fans the opportunity to attend both.

Not ideal.

Can't see that happening unfortunately.
Last year the footballers played Carlow in Dr. Cullen Park while the hurlers played Carlow in Pairc Tailteann at the same time.

I really hope Meath hurlers do very well, its great for Meath hurling they had a greatvyear and can only get better. Underage has great men working with teams and there putting everything they can into it, county board need to get behide them a lot more and push it on to were it should be.

Dont get me wrong I hope the hurlers can hold there own winning 1 game in round robin will mean success and can be achieved.

This to me will signal progress more so than getting out of 4th grade in the league which of course is necessary

But the road to Liam ... come on

Looks like the first match V Offaly has been scheduled in Trim at the exact same time as the footballers V Wicklow in Navan.
Thats a huge shame could a double header not of been arranged?

Chivers is right very bad that snub. Sub goalie put on before player of the year and Christy ring team players.

Its bad form. I think its also bad form putting a player back on that's took off, managers that are doing this don't believe in what is on there bench, john and Meath are always at it. That's what the panel is there for, I agreed Christy ring hurler of the year not getting one min on the pitch and toher what a joke that is.

Great article on Meath hurling.

You'd really wonder if the advent of the Christy Ring cup has been good for Meath when we already had a good tradition of taking part in Leinster.

That's a good question for discussion. Is it better to drop down to play teams of a similar level to yourself, or is it better to be playing better teams at a higher grade , even if you are mostly getting beaten. It is certainly difficult to improve standards if you are playing at a lower grade.
I would be no expert on Meath hurling at all, but I would guess that that team was one of those occasions when a good group of players happened to all be around at the same time. For the few years where we have been competitive with the likes of Laois and Dublin and Offaly, I would imagine that there have been a lot more where we haven't been nearly at that standard. So it is hard to say whether we should have been in the Christy Ring, or whether we would have been better served trying to stay in the Leinster championship proper.
As has been discussed here before, the article also shows how little progress was made in building on the success that that team had. That unfortunately seems to be a recurring theme in Meath hurling. There just doesn't seem to be the will or the resources either at county board level, or from Croke Park, to push on from a promising position and try to sustain that success. I would be concerned that the same will happen with the great year that we had last year. There is a great opportunity now to promote hurling in Meath, and make us into a genuine dual county. I just can't see it happening though.

There is serious effort being put in under age hurling in the county. Young teams are consistently competing against the more traditional hurling counties and coming away with wins so it is definitely going in the right direction

Any reason why they couldn't have the hurling and football game as a double header on Sunday?
