We're coming to the time of the year when the Co. Board announce the different award winners from the year gone by. Last year's categories and winners were
Hall of Fame David Carty and Jim Gilligan Footballer of the Year Stephen Bray Young Footballer of the Year James McEntee Hurler of the Year Jack Regan Young Hurler of the Year Peter Slevin Club of the Year Curraha Grounds of the Year Trim Public Relations Club Award Seneschalstown Referee of the Year Nick Fitzgerald Most Improved Referee Liam Reddy
Has anybody any suggestions as to who might win this year's awards?
Syddan seem to have done a bit of work to their grounds in recent times so might get Grounds of the Year perhaps. Footballer of the Year might go to Harry Rooney if based on county play, if based on club then Pauric McKeever. Young Footballer of the Year has to be James Conlon. Hurler of the Year could well be Damien Healy. Club of the Year - I'd say St. Colmcilles.

Footballer of year: O'Sullivan, Harnan, Keoghan. possibly O'Sullivan as its a great story and he was one player who really seemed to stand out. Harnan closest challenger. Keoghan loses out only as he is consistently our best player and sets a high bar Young footballer: Conlon. MOTM in IFC and MFC finals, did serious damage v the Dubs. Nash possibly but his absence from Minor team and AFL may count against him Hurler of the year: lots of candidates. Toher as captain? Not know too much about hurlers to be honest Club of year: Possibly St Colmcilles stand out. first Corn na Boinne, first IFC in 28 years, first ever Ladies JFC, first MFC in 30 years etc. Maybe Simonstown for their achievement? Like Keoghan Kiltale almost too consistent to stand out Ground of year: Pats defo best in county. Like the idea of Syddan too given the work done PRO: Seneschalstown and St Michaels are the standard. Tones do good work and Dunshaughlin are great for banter refs: don't know enough

Footballer of the Year - very few lads on the county team i would imagine it would be a club player, maybe o'rourke or mccabe from simonstown or sham Young Footballer of the Year - Conlon hands down best young player in the county that will be with us, nash loses out cos of other commitments but would have got it other wise Hurler of the Year - any number to pick from here, joey keena, damien healy stephen morris all done well healy to get it after been named christy ring player of the year Young Hurler of the Year - either one of the ryan twins they have been incredible, or maybe mcgowan after winning u21 b hurler of the year Club of the Year - hard to pick one yet, kiltale after wining league and championship, bective winning t-cup and championship, colmcilles probably to shade t on back of coirn na boinne, championship and minor (dont think the womens achievments come into factor with picking the club, from a co.board point of view) Ground of the year- hard one here-you have the old reliable of trim, skryne has been good since the place has been done up, dunshaughlin could edge this. referee of the year- always cause controversy- hard to judge as im not to familar with all the refs
think thats all the awards that would matter, hall of fame im not sure whos already in it

For me Keoghan would be county player of the year and the rest a long journey behind. Young footballer would be Conlon as Nash only came into his own near the end of the championship.

Young Conlon has to get young player of year, as regards Senior player, hardly a vintage year for anyone, could end up like last year with someone that hard an outstanding year club wise winning it.

Hall of fame - I just feel for the year that's in it a hurler, Tispin maybe for his incredible service. Footballer of the year- Cillian O Sullivan, a real breath of fresh air that's needed in this Meath team Young footballer - Only one winner, James Conlon St Colmcilles. Worth the entry fee alone most days and has not been on the wrong end of any corner back faced this year, a serious prospect if Meath are ever to improve. Grounds of the year- Trim for me, a Carrickshock man turned to me and asked how the pitch and clubhouse was in such great Nick. Hurler of the year- In a year of 20 great hurlers, it comes down to Keoghan , Healy and Gannon. For a mix of Club and county Keoghan just shades it. An excepitional performance in the Co. Final and will be a key player in Leinster Next year. Young Hurler- A great year for u21 and minor respectively. For me it comes down to Gavin McGowan , ratoath (u21) and Mikey Cullen Trim ( minor ). Two top performers with club and county all year, Cullen just shades it as Trim were very impressive in the minor final. Club of the year- St Colmcilles, Corn Na Boinne, Mattie McDonnell and Leinster Champs, roll on all Ireland.
Any clue on when awards are given out ??

How Cilles did not win club of the year is madness, I'd say the East coast men are absolutely sickened.
