Meath U21 Hurling - V Wicklow Sat 6th Aug

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Any idea what the panel is for MH v WW in U21B HC which is down for Trim on Saturday at 2pm. Would Meath loose many of the team that were beaten by Wicklow last year in the final in Thurles.

Would like to see some of the Minor squad being part of the panel.. Needs to be a more fluid transition between the two grades.

Usual story managers keeping their hand covered as if anyone would spot our tactics from team announcement training brutal with less than 10 out most nights. No interest really from players county board or public. But Meath can win today as Wicklow have stated they are in the same boat

Seen minors playing and to be fair to them none of the minors would be strong enough for the grade

I wouldn't expect them to be but would be a benefit to them to do a few sessions with the 21s to see what they need to be aiming for

Jack Fagan is hurling beautifully with our u21's. In line for an all ireland medal already...great prospect

surely it is wrong that Meath have lost such a player to Waterford, are Waterford the new Kildare?.

Good performance on Saturday well done all even the bench is strong. Stay with what is there they all seemed very united and they will push on. They are all getting hurling for there clubs so let them at it. Most of the lads were playing hurling league earlier last week and no managers saying stop don't let them. Let them play as much as they can - onwards and upwards

Yes, I watched the last two u21 Waterford matches and was very surprised Jack Fagan was no.24 and only got the last 5 minutes of each game , he is a good hurler and I hope things improve for him.

He has potential to be a really top player and from what im hearing within...he is a really top guy. Absolutely no disrespectful to my royal friends but there are seizmic differences between meath and waterford hurling...where jack would be an automatic choice perhaps for the royals he, nor anyone, can just walk onto a top top team. Im delighted hes hurling with us..and to my friend making comment is waterford the new kildare...its supporting the boy and his goals you should be doing not having a pop at him. And for what its worth...i hope ye give mcentee time...top top manager who with time can make ye back into a force and i hope he does.

Ah wouldn't worry about that lad above.. They don't know how to hold a hurl round his neck of the woods.

Don't know why you feel the need as a "Waterford" supporter to come on here to tell us how a former meath player is doing. I wouldn't be tempting faith. I've seen so many lads over the years thinking "far away hills are green" in other counties only to be bitterly disappointed . Although outside counties make a great deal about lads joining them, more for their own promotional benefit as in look at how accomadating we are, rather than anything else. So hopefully he does well and be one of the very few , we have a great bunch of hurlers here that won the ring cup twice!!! But now we have a new fight coming and of course the"burn all the Hurley's" brigade are in! Some interesting times ahead.

I actually enjoy hearing how our former players are doing.

I hope Jack goes on to fulfill his potential. Anymore updates please feel free to comment.

although jack fagan is excellent, from what i've seen, there would be better hurlers here in meath..
having said that, the level he is playing at will improve him immensely

In relation to his age group, Jack has far more potential to develop into a top intercounty hurler than the other lads in Meath his age. He simply has a very raw talent that I hate to say would be never fully utilised in Meath.

The main thing people forget is that he lives down there and works down there and went to college in limerick. No harm to Rathmolyon but they would struggle to win the inter championship let alone be any sort of force in the senior. He would be a complete waste of talent and I know some of you will say its his club and Meath is his county, but if given the chance to play on the biggest stage any of you would have grabbed it with both hands. Only the irish begrudge a person who has worked hard and seized an opportunity.

Rathmolyon should have earned every hurling man in Meath's respect by not blocking Jacks wish to transfer as to do so would have been a travesty.

Who's place could you see him taking on the Waterford team?
