Surely the county board can now put up a fixture planner for the rest of the season for both hurling and football. Seeing as the county teams are finished. They have had a joke of the year so far with planning fixtures. No wonder players are stepping away from GAA when they can't plan work of in advance, a social life or family trips etc. rightthere (Meath) - Posts: 128 - 13/07/2016 12:35:38 1882455 Link 0 |

Its a well known fact CCCC meet on a Tuesday so after Saturdays defeat I expect something will be out later this week or early next week. I reckon they would have anticipated Meath going out last week or this week so should have been working on some plan. The most recent release in June after the Chisty final was re fixed gave us what is on till end of July. numberedjerseys (USA) - Posts: 348 - 13/07/2016 14:08:38 1882523 Link 0 |
is there not a 2 week holiday break in place since the start of the year ? Id imagine come the 7th of august it will be championship every weekend with the football and hurling staggered thelutch (Meath) - Posts: 1047 - 13/07/2016 19:32:27 1882739 Link 0 |
Before the two hurling finals which obviously would cause delays and i have no problem with, there was issues and mess ups by the County Board e.g putting fixtures out as they didnt think meath would do well in the Christy Ring cup. Also there is no two week holiday this year. They have championship the week ending the 31st July which clashes with Galway races this year as they are no 2 week holidays. Mainly i would hope that the fixture planner for the rest of the Year would be out already as they should of had a plan for the year already in place if Meath Lost to Derry. Just very slack once again. rightthere (Meath) - Posts: 128 - 14/07/2016 09:53:26 1882936 Link 0 |
There has not been a 2 week break for years somehow I don't think there was ever that lenght of time last few years there was a whittled down championship free period from Thursday eve to Tuesday. This year it was announced that that too was gone. Anyway not much miss anyone who goes on holidays go in May June or September/October now when the deals are on

Ya its good to see they have it up. I noticed they havent fixtured KO Cup Finals, league finals A&B or Playoffs into the planner though. rightthere (Meath) - Posts: 128 - 14/07/2016 11:57:17 1883024 Link 0 |

dual players will have championship every week between now and middle of september! overthehill72 (Meath) - Posts: 334 - 14/07/2016 12:24:31 1883045 Link 0 |
Whether people like it or not, when it comes to club level, Meath is a dual county, and has been for quite a number of years ( the "argument" about it being a dual county at inter county level is one for another day!). Which is why it is madness using the championship formats we have in football and hurling. Groups of 6 in both senior hurling and football is just too much, and in fairness tho the fixture committee, must be a nightmare to plan. At the end of the day, when clubs complain about restructures, its the players that pay the price. Some players will end up having played championship almost every weekend now from July through to the end of September, and the county finals still won't have been played by then! SO much for family time, holidays, even a relaxing weekend! Yes, the county board do have to take some of the blame, but clubs and players need to drive this change. It makes the decision by some clubs earlier this year to force the county board to backtrack on the proposed changes even more infuriating!

Nothing to do with the fixture committee. There's championship every weekend from now until November. Unless we play championship mid-week there's no other time to play these games. The structure of the championship was changed earlier this year and certain clubs forced us to change back. And then we give out about congestion. begining (UK) - Posts: 300 - 14/07/2016 14:34:37 1883170 Link 1 |
Yeah I see that but I studied it and I suppose they have to wait and see when the chance arises.

In fairness to the county board when do you expect them to play these games? The last few years we've barely squeezed the fixtures in based on the predictable situation of our hurlers being knocked out in a CR semi/quarter, and our footballers being out in July. ya it is fair enough, you would just think they would have a date for such big fixtures.

Good point in regards to the cutting of two rounds. I wish they were just more organised in the time between April and July. Could of fitted two rounds of championship in which would of eased the strenuos fixtures in August and September.

Why is the Feis Cup semi-final on tomorrow when the Ulster Final is on at the same time. Why won't they play the feis cup at 12? Barney123 (Meath) - Posts: 676 - 16/07/2016 13:30:10 1884215 Link 2 |
