AHL games fixed for morning after Christy Ring Cup final

(Oldest Posts First)

I'm not usually one for giving out about fixtures, in fairness it is a difficult job. But sometimes you really have to wonder if the county board even consider that players might sometimes do something other than play football and hurling.
It would be great to be celebrating a Christy Ring win next weekend, and I'm sure all hurling players in the county would look forward to a night out after the match in Croker, hopefully celebrating a famous win. So what have the county board done? Fixed a full round of Div 1 hurling league games for 11am the following morning.

Surely this is one occasion where the county board could have used a little bit of cop on.

great chance for clubs to bring bus of kids and players to promote the game in the county
games should be played next thursday and friday night or not at all
clubs should all object to playing the sunday without question
total lack of respect to the hurling community yet again

Club calls up the county board complaining about the fixtures Sunday Morning.. County Board asks 'what's wrong with it?'
Club: 'Ah sure we're all going on the piss the night before...players won't be fit to drive to the game let alone play it'... :D

Hopefully the games can be re-fixed to Friday evening or Saturday before the Christy Ring Final. I'm sure if clubs can agree to change it between themselves there won't be an issue.

There are only 4 division 1 games strange they at 11am maybe it's to let lads go to home coming in trim that afternoon. Div 2. 3 & 4 games on Thursday and Friday.
Maybe it to suit s certain club. Anyway no div 1 team should be going on piss with championship the following weekend

Due to the extra expenses of the county team getting to Croke Park, a round of the league had to be sacrificed as a cost saving exercise!

The cb could not care less about hurling and here is yet another demonstration of it.
Agree with previous posts
Clubs boycott games or rearrange themselves
Can't remember ever games of football held morning after croke park games.
Time is coming for a separate county board.

lads its not a major thing surely, if it was fixed for a bank holiday monday fair enough, but you cant honestly say that a fixtures committee can postpone games because lads want to go on the beer, they will have a full session if they want at the homecoming in trim all sunday and bank holiday monday if they want. it would be worse if games were fixed for saturday at 12 or 1 oclock and people trying to rush up to croker after.

surely teams will be off drink anyway or at least copious amounts the week before championship. and sure if lads do want to have a good knees up after the game in croker im sure the fact of a league game the next morning wont deter them. a lot of teams intrest in the league is done anyway. sure some lads play better half cut while for others a run out the next morning is a great cure.

basically this is a non issue, if we went on like that then there wouldnt be a game played on a sunday ever because of it getting in the way of saturday night activites!

Hang on now,

Only in Meath hurling could a gameweek scheduled for Round 5 instead have Round 6 matches, and one Round 1 match.

The County Board knew for ages that Clann na Gael and Donaghmore/Ashbourne were in the same intermediate hurling group, and they knew when the dates were for Round 1 of Championship when the two teams would play (this Friday)

These two clubs were then down to play each other last Friday, but were informed on the Wednesday that the fixtures' had been switched around because ''they didn't want ot have Championship teams playing against each other a week before it''

The County board do not care about hurling, we saw their comments about using sticks for firewood.
