Anyone excited about this one?, think we will struggle to beat Louth in all honesty.

If the current panel are all fully fit then I'm saying Meath by 5+, we had an indifferent league campaign yes but we are a much better team than Louth!!!

This is not the team I would pick now, but based on performances and how MOD seems to choose its what I would imagine he will go with from what he has!!

RD, this is true but I think Westmeath have better individuals than Louth like Heslin etc While I would rule out Louth beating us if we don't perform for the full 70, I think that if we do then no matter how well Louth play that we will beat them pulling up. Our best against their best we are much better than them........if we are not at our best however then memories of Westmeath, Cavan, Galway will quite possibly have another match added to the list!!!

Is Brian Meade back in the panel? Heard rumours he is back. Not a bad call if it's true.

Has an official panel of say 30 players to be named for the championship? I see that the likes of Kerry and Mayo take this route. We seem to have some sort of development squad that Micko plucks players from every so often. I actually find it very frustrating that we don't know who is and who isn't involved with our county team.

Ratlag fingers crossed for a Battle of the Boyne clash. First up tomorrow week is Carlow so Wee won't look past that. Some buzz in the Wee County after clinching promotion and winning the Division four title. 2014 and 2015 were very difficult years for Louth. Two relegations in the league in a row, championship trashings from Kildare, Tyrone and Tipp. Colin Kelly got alot of stick in his first year. This time last year there was alot of doom and gloom. Now a year later and I cannot wait for this years championship to start. Louth were the third favs with the bookies to win the Division four title behind Antrim and Wexford. Anyway roll on tomorrow week and please god wee will see you,s in Parnell Park on June 12th. An Lu Abu!

Parnell Park not a great venue for a champ game imo.Surely a double header at Croke Park would be better?

Ziggy it is Parnell Park if its Louth v Meath and Navan if its Meath v Carlow. Meath have never played a championship match in Parnell Park as far as I am aware. Louth have played a few matches in Parnell in the 00s including Leinster matches, qualifiers and Tommy Murphy matches.

Parnell Park it is so! Would Louth not play in Navan?

Ziggy the Leinster council picks the venues. I don't mind Navan myself as it is very close. Westmeath are playing the winners of Longford/Offaly the same day as Meath v Louth/Carlow. They could of put that as a double header in Croker.

exactly,it won't feel like a champ game in Parnell Park imo.

An absolutely ridiculous venue choice by the gaa....I would say even Louth would prefer playing Navan.... Parnell holds about 8k......no parking. Total lack of respect shown here. Tormey will be full forward meathgaalad.....and Eamonn Wallace will start along with biggy. Don't know what league u were watching

Southmeathgael Parnell Park has a capacity of 13,500. Navan only has a capacity of 10,000 due to health and safety.

I found parking difficult for an O'Byrne Cup game there, nevermind a championship match!
