Will throw in times change this weekend ?

(Oldest Posts First)

With the whole country looking forward to the replay between the dubs & mayo i wonder will all the fixtures still throw in at 6pm this saturday ? Be nice on supporters to push them out to 7.15pm or evening bring them forward to 4pm.

No change light is the problem sunset at weekend is 8pm. If Half 6 start and if any games went to extra time time or had an injury hold up games would not be finished

Ok set games for 6.30 as Moyles says in Chronicle it be 7/8 minutes late add in 2 minutes injury at end of 1st half so half over 7-05/7.10pm most clubs tale 12 minutes at least so 7.20 at best start of 2nd half add in 3 minutes injury game over 7-53pm.

That be ok but if extra time is needed that is 10 a half and another 8/10 at least to be it going and a 3/4 minutes injury time/5 min half time overall thats at least 35 minutes which brings you to near enough 8.30 and sunset is 8.04 in Navan this weekend.

In fairness the fixtures committee have done a pretty good job this year hence with meaths early departure from championship made it a lot easier.

The fact our two best pitches in meath(navan & trim) dont have lights make it nearly impossible to change around the fixture time as glenny is 100% correct regarding light.
My neighbouring county offaly have managed to change all of their 11 fixtures for saturday(times & days)....With only 6 fixtures in meath im sure they could have sat down sunday night and jigged things around.

I see the 2 hurling finals have been changed to suit kick off in the rugby match, both games brought forward which of course make perfect sense, pity they didnt do the same the day of dublin/mayo replay, but obviously they learned from mistake as crowds at club games that day were very poor.

thelutch the fixtures committee have had a howler with fixtures this from starting the leagues in january to fixing 2nd and 1st team ganmes back to back in different venues they have been horrendous, the only decent enough think they have done is move fixtures with the rugby in mind but even then thats a money spinner for getting neutrals in

Dont agree smooth and efficent stuck to the plan for the most part. 3 or 4 games in Janurary because of Dinner dances etc did a right good job. Out 1st with a provision for Rugby and other counties followed Meath's lead on this. The Rugby crack is all about money so its an easy decision

Players had to wait 4 weeks from the quarter to semi finals and now 3 weeks to the final. Dates were fixed for next weekend so teams would of prepared for that, i.e probably didnt train too hard as the final was only a week away. The only reason it is changed now is to line the county boards pocket because they are afraid of loosing a few neutrals to the Rugby. It is very unfair to have the players sit around all weekend waiting for a game on the Monday. Why not have it on the Saturday. They didn't change fixtures when the Dublin Mayo game was clashing so why do it for Rugby.

completly disrespectful to the players and supporters of all 4 clubs, unfoar on the players who have booked days off work, unfait on management teams who have prepared everything in the lead up to the final being on the 18th and now have to alter plans

i agree the games should not clash with the rugby but just change the times or even bring the games back to saturday, the county board got burned the day of the replay of mayo & dublin but they have learned their lesson since but this is not the solution having them on a monday.

Intermediate hurling replay 2.00pm saturday.

Junior football final 4pm saturday.

Senior football final 2.00pm sunday.

10 euro cover charge on both days.

its not rocket science, our fixtures committee need a new young fresh change.
