Minor championship 2015

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

So lads minor champo starts next month and after looking at last nights summer league final I feel were in a great position to go one step further than last year. Colmcilles were nowhere near as good as what I expected and I expect wolf tones to ease past them and meet us in the final.

St colmcilles were short quite a few of their first choice players and i wiuld certainly not judge anything from last night. Skryne played very good football and took some great scores. Championship will be interesting as there are no teams in it who are just making up the numbers

Ye I have to agree, Skryne looked the sharper team out there last night. Could have been much more ahead at half time. Championship will be very interesting, any of the 8 could win it this year which is great. Cilles look like they are lacking that big game mentality, correct me if I'm wrong but I think they have lost 3 finals there now in the last year. Breeze through early stages then boom before they know it they are knocked out. Expect tones to account for them first round as well, gave them a good hiding in the league final. All to play for

Minor Champ starts tomorrow Fri-lets preview the games. There was a concensus that Meath minors would have done well this year but they failed badly v longford.Plenty of talent in the present minor ranks though. Tones are the favourites followed by Dunboyne and the Hill.

Simmonstown v Summerhill. Both these teams have won competitions with these teams when younger.Simmonstown appear to have struggled to field teams at Div 1 but when full out they are really strong. Players like Hoey Conlon and Nash played for the minors this year are are excellent. Dark horses. The Hill won the u 16 and u 14 champ with this team. Class act. Crowe the Ryans Frayne super footballers. Form line suggests the Hill but this game could be the upset . verdict. summerhill.

Cilles v the Tones. Tones fairly bet the Cilles in the minor league final- with Tomas scoring for fun. and we were missing 3 players.Tones have a few co players also. Favourites for the competition Tones go into this game with confidence. Cilles -with only the keeper Jordan Browne on the meath team this year will be looking to get a run in the back door. Verdict Wolf Tones

Skryne V Dunshaughlin. 2 teams on the way up. Skryne won the summer league but can they over come the loss of Reddy? Dunshughlin competing at this level Div 1 for the first time are a coming force and play a defensive counter attacking game. Expect both teams to figure next year but this year a year too soon. Skrynes management are clever. Verdict Skryne.

Don ash v Dunboyne. don ash features a lot of u 17s.Feisty and focussed nobody can relish playing them. Dunboyne can expect to reach the final. They have plenty of players from last years winning minor team including Nash. this will be a very physical game. Verdict Dunboyne.

Dunshaughlin were div 1 last year and had a good side. Heard they are tough to break down this year with a new defensive structure. Wins for Wolfe Tones, Summerhill (will play tones in final if kept apart), Ashbourne and Skryne to win, home advantage to see them through. New Meath minor manager should be out, plenty of talent there this year again for a good minor side. Expect a few more from tones to be involved. Is it true o Reilly and o Neill called up to senior training squad? Big pressure on lads that young. Will be expecting big things tomorrow evening from those two if so.

The coast men gave the tones a lesson in football this evening, think they won out by 15? ruthless in defence and slick in attack. Don't read too much into league form

Were Tones missing any lads. From the league final to this is a 26 point swing. I know Cilles were missing lads in the league final but still 26 is a massive swing

If we stay on form we'll have a good chance! league form does mean a lot keeks. We bet the Colmcilles well in summer league final and they were full strength. Can't see why we won't do it again and win it all, we' bet them in last years under 16 league final as well!

Tones had 15 players same as Cilles. Cilles were superb and deservedly ran out easy winners. But both teams are still in it and there is a bit to go yet

Skryneman I wouldn't rule you out. Any of the 8 could win it in my opinion. Good win for Cilles but no doubt that Wolfe tones were complacent last night. Still think they will make the final, think colmcilles went that route last year. Momentum can be gained that way. Tones big players didn't stand up last night, they will be back. It's interesting that initially there were 4 matches in div1 all to be played last night and only 1 went ahead. Two fixed for Monday and somehow once again a Summerhill match is changed. It beggars belief how they always end up playing a different day to the original fixture. Have they lads injured? Maybe it's hurling?? Interesting to see if it will go ahead next Friday. Cilles I heard got the breaks last night with a few sloppy goals on a wet wet night. Tones would take them apart again in dry conditions. Cilles not as good as people making them out to be..

From what I heard the match between simonstown vs Summerhill was pushed back due too 5 or 6 big summerhill players gone on a leaving cert holiday. Supposedly they return on wendesday for minor hurling championship.......this should not be aloud??????

Earlier in the year summerhill and colmcilles moved fixtures willy nilly and then both agreed a back fixture walk over cos it suited them to manipulate semi final pairings. These 2 seem to have an inside line to change fixtures. I know of several cases where other clubs are told that once a fixture is made it cannot be moved.

Analyst, which fixture did colmcilles try to move ? Certainly not the Summerhill game. Each time the game was fixed Summerhill pulled the plug......county board eventually had to award the seasiders a walkover.

If that's what happened then i take your word for it. But the final round was completed and then this back fixture was still hanging. This was fundamentaly wrong and as a consequence Don Ash lost home advantage for a semi final. It was said by a fixtures committee member that both clubs in question are forever looking for games moved. Its a joke if Summerhill got that game moved last night without Simonstown consent

I think that's a bit unfair on Colmcilles. I know for a fact they pride themselves in fulfilling fixtures as they are called. Take last Friday night for example...only game in div1 to go ahead was Tones and Cilles. And believe me Colmcilles had a genuine case of looking for a postponement ......but didn't.

Surely summerhill couldn't get away with an excuse like that. Must have been some other reason behind it? Any word on the next round draw? Some win for dunboyne last night. They won't let the defence of their title go easily, going to be another difficult team to beat. Anyone go to last nights matches? Skryneman your boys had a good win
