Qualifiers

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I can't bring myself to discuss today's mess.

So for the qualifiers and for me, the only draws worth getting is Tyrone or Armagh but they'd have to be in Navan. No point with LOUTH or wexford as we'd prob lose anyway and that'd just compound things.

This year has a real feel of 2008.

You think if each supporter pleged 50 euro we would get enough to get Jim McGuinness out of Sky and in to MOD's job

Lads! Crushed my backside ! These players need to find out who they are as men and footballers ! I say bring the squad to Roadstone quarry near Slane ( I'm sure Roadstone would allow it ) and bring twenty 12 lb. sledgehammers and tell the squad " right lads, go out there for six hours without a break and break stones " then you'll find out what kind of man you are !! If you can come back in and say. " I want to be a Meath footballer! Then fair play, select the squad on that basis and bring them back on a surprise visit on Wednesday ! Then you'll have a squad hard enough for Meath football. I don't know what else would harden these boys up, but what has been done to date is not working!!

Ok lads , blame game over , lot of stuff said in heat of moment , a lot tongue in cheek , but seriously Now the team has to stand up tall , hold the heads high, after all still Meathmen and we don't quit, battle will continue next day , some great talent on the team , just need to refortify the team mentality and pride. Am far removed from my beloved county for years now and must say the joy of my sporting life is Meath football , including of course all other counties that make up that wonderful organization , the GAA, it's been a rough week for Meath Gaa in many respects and I'm sympathetic to how the lads must feel this evening, and for me at least the misery of this defeat is mitigated by the delight in our brothers in Westmeath at their great victory. Congratulations to them and best of luck in Final . My feeling is that we will win next game no matter who the opposition is .

Sure we may have looked good in first half, but even then we also looked very loose at the back. Not one back had a decent game today. Three years in and still no nearer finding a centre back. Poor McGill had a baptism of fire, hopefully better days ahead.

seadog 54 totally agree, when we were well on top in first half any time westmeath did get forward they just brushed past us like we wern't there. defensively we are woeful & have been for years

Lack of on field leadership a serious concern going forward

I wouldn't blame the defence as such, its that we lack defensive organization, and two many players are playing in positions that don't suit them.Tobin and McEntee corner backs??? Keoghan at 6???

Micko said this team was built for Croke Park, but apart for some speedy forwards the wide open spaces cruelly exposed us in second half. Shocked the way we ran out of steam once again, thought that was one area we had sorted.

I know this is probably a post ill regret. But as ziggy said what's the point? .
I never thought id say this but perhaps it would be better to get beat the next day and start the process of installing a REAL management team.
Let them start off early so they can see all the club games then meet up and begin training in October, as a great Ashbourne man was sang , what's another year,
