How do people think clubs are getting on so far this year.I see Saint Marys couldnt field a team at the weekend. A bad sign this happening so early in the year. Ba7 (Meath) - Posts: 29 - 24/02/2015 13:27:57 1696295 Link 0 |
Looking at the cup results from the weekend, almost every game was pretty competitive bar one or two. Have Moylagh lost players this year? Belt (Meath) - Posts: 253 - 24/02/2015 14:08:11 1696327 Link 0 |
It's in a bit of a state at the moment. Only three strong senior teams and at that none are competitive in Leinster pat_custard (Meath) - Posts: 125 - 24/02/2015 14:42:49 1696336 Link 0 |
I agree. Meath junior football used to be the strongest in leinster and now its quite poor . With the likes of Marys not being able to field team this early it could be a sign of hard times ahead for them . They will prob have to pull out of the league and championship now . It's very early to b giving a walkover most teams are crying out for a game, see on the main page there having a juvenile registration nite so they must hav good under age numbers coming up,still looks terrible giving a walkover in February Royalard (Meath) - Posts: 9 - 25/02/2015 10:50:05 1696638 Link 0 |
marys may just have had a bad weekend with players away and so on they probably had a weak enough side and no ppoint in travelling to i think clonard for a hiding think it was a bit to early for the cup compettions to start middle of march would have been perfect srgt_slaughter (Meath) - Posts: 462 - 26/02/2015 08:48:54 1696952 Link 0 |
They lost both league games heavily and only scoring a couple of scores in each game so it looks deeper than just one weekend of been down numbers Royalard (Meath) - Posts: 9 - 27/02/2015 12:09:23 1697359 Link 0 |
I see very positive reports from Meath Players involvement with Colleges on a regular basis. This is positive because (like it or not) College Football is where it is at for up to date training, Development,And high quality matches.I would recommend those who like to attend a good match look up www.he.gaa.ie. Bit early in the year to worry about Club Football,Club players only get going from about now. Ashrules (Dublin) - Posts: 518 - 27/02/2015 12:30:37 1697368 Link 0 |

I don't think Meath Football is in the doldrums , I just reckon its in a prolonged natural downward curve ( about to plateau) . This is a natural fluctuation for us , we will once again feast at the big table , but when , may be more difficult to answer. As to the level of Meath players on various college teams . We have always had that . I recall a number of Meath players with Dundalk RTC in the late eighty's that contested a Div 1 Freshers final & Trench Cup finals in the same year , Shay Duff (Syddan) ,Greg Carry ( Castletown) , Viv Hoey (Castletown) , Jimmy Casserly (St Ultans) , Kevin Ludlow (Duleek) , Tom Dillon (Duleek) , Emmet Boyle (Meath Hill) etc. ,and I recall a Fresh Faced Castletown/Nobber player (Gordon Weldon captaining a Dublin College ( not sure if it was UCD or DCU) to the Freshers Div 1 title in the 90's . So its not that there are more guys from Meath playing at a higher level in Third level Colleges nowadays , just that the present PR is better. lookin at the latest results everyone seems to be blaming the management from what i can see is everything is put on a plate for these lads and when the time is right to deliver they dont and every excuse in the book is used , when they step over the white line players have to take responabilty not the lads on the line elguapo (Meath) - Posts: 51 - 17/03/2015 20:40:41 1703904 Link 0 |
You are correct,but I think the management have to be a little quicker to make changes.. ziggy320001 (Meath) - Posts: 2432 - 17/03/2015 21:10:21 1703923 Link 0 |
Is anyone surprised to be honest and you have a disaster of a fixture committee starting league games in January and the great idea of having cup games on paddys day when half of the club teams are either away or want to celebrate but no logic as per usual CFC (Australia) - Posts: 25 - 18/03/2015 08:50:54 1703989 Link 0 |
Worse still they want to fine teams who did not field on Patricks day. numerosix (Meath) - Posts: 12 - 30/03/2015 16:46:26 1708505 Link 0 |
