Wasn't at the Meath v Longford game today in Trim. How did the game go??? Any players stand out? Redman7 (Meath) - Posts: 81 - 01/02/2015 19:24:34 1688855 Link 0 |
Was not at the game myself but cant be too much to take out of it apart from it sounds like a good professional performance. In saying that I mean it is often hard to maintain a good level when playing weaker teams. Irish_downunder (Meath) - Posts: 626 - 03/02/2015 17:29:25 1689747 Link 0 |
Not a great game. Lads did what they had to do no challenge in any part of the field. A run out for some of the lads that might not be on the first 15/18 which is great. Sunday against Wicklow in Trim at 2pm will be the first big test for 2015 hopefully it will be a good result and set all up well for the league. I heard there was a bit of hassle at the game? Spoofer (Meath) - Posts: 47 - 08/02/2015 19:46:24 1691362 Link 0 |

Not great day for hurlers. Kildare won at canter and would have won more only for Charlie bird. Kildare worked and played for each other on and off the ball and was great hurling ta watch. Looked like meath only met up before game and never played with each other at all. JoeJoej (Meath) - Posts: 73 - 15/02/2015 18:03:27 1693777 Link 0 |
Can't get over the difference in hurling ability/organisation compared to kildare last sunday. Including the u21, that's two heavy defeats meath have suffered to kildare in the last year. Whats going wrong? What are kildare doing that meath aren't? Have we our strongest team out? Where's all the kiltale lads? begining (UK) - Posts: 298 - 17/02/2015 19:52:37 1694524 Link 0 |
There's at least 2 or 3 Kiltale lads on the panel as it is I think. Also while they would strengthen the team a bit, no number of Kiltale players could have bridged the gap painfully evident between Meath and Kildare last sunday. only one kiltale man on the panel against kildare. Considering the way they performed with their club last year you'd imagine there would be at least 5 or 6 on the panel?. agree that it mightn't have made much of a difference against a very good kildare outfit, but you can't have enough good hurlers who know how to win begining (UK) - Posts: 298 - 19/02/2015 10:13:21 1694895 Link 0 |
I agree. There should be about 5 Kiltale lads on that starting team. overthehill72 (Meath) - Posts: 334 - 19/02/2015 10:35:05 1694900 Link 0 |
In all honesty ya could pick another 15 players in meath to play against whatever is on meath panel at present and beat them right now JoeJoej (Meath) - Posts: 73 - 19/02/2015 17:27:17 1695075 Link 0 |
Lads there were a good few lads playing in positions that they will definitely not be playing in a few weeks time. I would hazard a guess that the half back line will be on the bench come the start of the ring cup. Yes Meath were hammered but there is a big silver lining to come off that game. I'd be very interested to see you selection Joejoej if that's what you believe. I think lads might have got caught out after winning the kehoe cup, after beating nobody really, we might have believed we're better than we are. That should play right into Martin Ennis's hands, gives him plenty for reflection and the opportunity to refocus everyone as to we need to improve in all aspects of our game. It's great for them that they play the next week after a disappointing result, gives the chance to atone. leftnright (Meath) - Posts: 30 - 20/02/2015 13:42:57 1695309 Link 0 |
Didn't get to get in and see the Kildare match last week were there any good performances to take from it all or any positives? Hopefully we can get things up and running tomorrow against a Mayo team that are hard beaten in their back yard. Just thinking back that to around 2007 time Meath went to Castle Barr and won easily what has gone wrong since?? Like I obviously know that that was a good meath tem but there is no difference between those players and the present day players. I agree with a previous poster that they were coming off the back of a somewhat handy Keogh Cup competition and tat might be the reason but A win is badly needed tomorrow if we are to have any chance of making a league final. BTW don't forget Meath beat Wicklow by ten points and they are paying a division ahead of us in the NHL butterfly (Meath) - Posts: 112 - 21/02/2015 14:49:27 1695481 Link 0 |

Despite all the ups and downs of the League the team has reached the final next Saturday in Mullingar. Come out in force and support the lads. Lets hope that the form shown against Down continuts then we will have a very decent chance of success. MillerX (Meath) - Posts: 1058 - 02/04/2015 11:01:27 1709726 Link 0 |
Really feel meath missed a big opportunity on Sunday. Especially with Kildare missing 3 key players. Hard to see the hurlers getting anything from the year. A tame quarter or semi final exit is on the cards again begining (UK) - Posts: 298 - 07/04/2015 09:10:30 1711466 Link 0 |
I am not a Hurling man. I can safely say I have only seen Meath Hurlers play a couple of times mainly if there was a football match before or after it. glenny (Meath) - Posts: 1106 - 07/04/2015 09:46:12 1711477 Link 0 |
What is there to say? This season is panning out like every season in the last 5 or so years. In the last few seasons we have reached the league final 4 times, won 4 Kehoe cups, and of the last 5 Christy Rings we've had 4 semi finals including a replay.
