i heard about the decline in refs and wondering has there been anything done? hurling refs cant be going around this county with games every two to three days we need more refs fast!

i heard there is a course been run in feb for new ref's both hurling and football, football not to bad numbers wise but hurling in dire need of new blood.

Getting referees fast is a disaster! New referees should be gradually introduced, getting referees fast, giving them a whistle and letting them out to referee League or Championship games is not on, they will make mistakes, get abuse, lose confidence, become disillusioned and give up. Far better to introduce a few former players to do challenge games etc, then progress to under-age (not simi-finals or finals)and so on.
