Fixtures come out in January and the first round tends to be on the third Sunday of February.

Is there a date set for the release of the club master fixture planner

Committees be ratified on Monday night so club planner should be out in a week or so after that

Agreed. They are normally mid February, most clubs aren't back yet and now they have two weeks notice to the first game. Why the change? Is it due to the extra rounds in the hurling league this year?

There are no extra rounds in hurling this year. Them extra games start next year following restructuring of divisions after this years league.

Agree but some cracking ties there with Ballinlough going to O'Mahonys, Cortown and Ultans and Dunderry and Bective in division 3! All depends on the weather though, if it's bad, pitches will be unplayable and games postponed.

Are you sure Redman? Article on home page seems to suggest change is happening in 2015

League fixtures weekend of 31st January = complete joke

I couldn't agree more, the league has now turned into a long drawn out competition with a load of meaningless games towards the latter half of the competition. The competition should have been revamped to include more divisions with 10 teams in each division.... League semi-finals and finals for promotion and relegation in each division instead of the current system where a lot of teams don't really put in much of an effort once they have enough points to be safe.

It is absolute madness starting football on 31st of January, when pitches are still in a mess and last years football calender isn't even that long finished!!

I'm not sure if they are allowed change the hurling leagues this year without giving the clubs advance notice. I would say a good few clubs would complain if they had finished mid table in the the 2014 league, only to be told they were getting brought down a division only because of a sudden reshuffle. If thy delay it for a year, all teams know in advance where they have to finish this year, in order to be in their best possible division in 2016.

I'd also imagine that adding extra league fixtures means they are removing the semi finals/relegation playoffs in the hurling leagues, so its only really 1 additional round.

Great stuff from a players point of view. I just want to get out there and start playing again. It hopefully means that there wont be a mad pile up of fixtures in the middle of summer and we can have fixtures set out properly in advance. Credit to Committee in charge of fixtures..... hopefully my praise wont backfire!!!

madness starting leagues back so early if you have genuine hopes of promotion you will need to keep lads fit and injury free from january to december going by how late ballinloughs year went where final vs blackhall gaels was played so late. only advantage is 3 rounds of championship and 8 league fixtures played by end of may so lads can go to america on J1 if they wish to.

It has its negatives and positives. Negatives good chance at this time of year that most matches wont be playable due to conditions which may cause a backlog later on. I just hope the Meath CC can plan correctly so leagues wont continue until Oct/Nov time. I also hope that there is common sense with fixtures being a player there is nothing worse travelling the length of the county straight from work in Dublin on a Thursday night to play a league game and its half 10 by the time your home ... I hope they can see the sense of fixing mid week games against the closest teams location wise in each division.

CastleBravo- you are correct. 2015 Hurling League finishing position will determine what division clubs will play in in 2016. Also not semi finals or relegation games so much the same time frame to play league but clubs have extra 2 games. All clubs did get outline for league change, our club secretary had it at club meeting before Xmas to discuss.
