Seamus Kenny - Operations Officer

(Oldest Posts First)

Great to see good guys like Seamus getting involved, but what exactly does "operations officer" mean?

He has been involved with development squads for years hasnt he? Stumped about the "Operations Officer" too, according to the article he has "responsibility for managing the county operations function.", which doesnt really clarify anything.

A bit harsh that, saying "I think" it is a made up role.

Ziggy perhaps a bit harsh. Its absolutely no reflection on Seamus, i man i have huge respect for. But i am getting concerned with all these roles that the cb are coming up with, the new fitness trainer who turns out to be not so new, etc. If this is a serious position then why are we reading something that equates to a politician piece? It makes no sense. I don't want seamus or anyone for that matter, been used just so the cb can say hey look we did this that and the other when in fact little if anything has changed.
So again perhaps i should have made my point better in first post, but all i want to know is what exactly is this position and how they envisage it will help Meath football.

if it is a role that is to improve the CB operations
1. would it not be better to have someone who is also better placed to look at operations of football and hurling. Not sure how well placed seamus is in this regard.
2 Is seamus not better place to focus on football - director of football perhaps!

1668853 Lads he was involved during the championship this summer. I think he was will be focussing on getting them being a bit more explosive over the first five yards mainly because that was sorely lacking in some players

Welcome aboard Ciaran

This is a post that i assume refers to at least one of the new additions???
I don't live in county and really only have what i hear from home or ob this site, but this wasn't really denied.
Seemingly came in after league last year. Well this year but you know what i mean.

Seamus has given tremendous service to Meath over the past 15 years at both under age and adult level and has given his life to the GAA and to see his name associated with some negative commentary on this thread is disappointing. When making the announcement of his appointment the Meath County Board should have clearly outlined what his responsibilities are as the supporters are entitled to understand what the role is and not leave his appointment hanging out there to be the subject of much conjecture, this appointment is another PR blunder by the Meath CB, I wish Seamus lots of success in his role but it would be nice to know how success will be measured !!
