(Oldest Posts First)

Anyone know of any young talent or new players called into the 2015 setup? any good club players fit for county?

Jack Fagan, Charley Bird but outfield instead of goals as i feel its a waste when you have just as good a goalie in Shane McGann, however will all the kiltale lads play after the paddy kelly/martin ennis scenario. Colm Doyle, Alan Douglas. Is young Luke Moran in with a shout? Outstanding at only his second year at adult level and performing consistently at midfield. Certainly not short of young talent as both Trim and Kiltale teams full of youth, very bright year ahead for Meath hopefully

There is many good young hurlers in the county but most of them don't get a chance when there brought into the county set up..I know several young players went in didn't get a sniff off a game and they left..they were then called in again and they said what's the point sure I won't get a game..we need to change this attitude and get the Young lads back in..now I think this has to come from the underage structure to build them up and have them prepared fot the step from minor to senior..we need better underage coaches n a more professional set up at underage this goes for the football aswel..we need to build these lads up to have chance at competing..

There was alot of players on the panel last year who were just there to make up numbers. If the likes of alan douglas, colm doyle, ciaran joyce, barry slevin, jack fagan, keith keoghan play and if kiltale players play along with the back bone of last years team it should be a good year for meath hurling.

I'd be surprised if the position has even crossed the minds of the county board, but has an U21 hurling manager been sourced? Apparently it didnt work out great this year having the same manager for both teams.

Any of the Kiltale lads would walk onto the Meath team.. None of them would out of place on the team and they will dominate Meath hurling for the next number of years!

Colm Doyle, Joyce and Douglas are big additions to the team. not sure if it was by choice that they were never there before..

home draw against Kildare in the first round of the league is massive.
Meath should have a Keogh cup final the week before that, and although it would be nice to win, they should play a 2nd team and be fresh for leaugue first round, unlike last year where they beat Kildare in Keogh cup final after an enthralling game AET, and then went to arklow and didn't turn up vs Wicklow.

Down at home at the end of the league will also be a massive game! Travelling to Mayo and Donegal should be a formality if they are professional about their job.
Armagh at home will be physical but ultimately we should have too much for them, particularly at home.

outside of the trim lads, what is the team shaping up like? can anyone confirm what Kiltale lads have made themselves available for selection?
they are the best team in the county, but no one should have to be asked twice to put on a county jersey.

Sure Kiltale are still hurling - I am sure the management of Meath Hurling will know all about Kiltale lads it is the others you need to be working with.

Interesting to see if there are any new faces playing with Meath Hurlers. There is young talent coming through. Anyone know team yet? I see Sean Heavey from Kildalkey was announced as Captain, good choice in IMO.

yea he's gone to De La Salle in Waterford. In with the Waterford senior hurlers too apparently.

Huge loss for Meath, massive opportunity for him. Just shows what top level coaching can achieve, his time in Carlow IT brought him on big time.

Heard that aswell that John Mullane contacted Jack Fagan personally.. Hes good friends with a lot of the waterford senior hurlers too.
Also heard that the two Ryan twins are with the hurlers, bit early yet but the training do no harm! hopefully few more kiltale lads will commit. Heard david donoghue is in there and james kelly also would be a great addition
