More of the same next year, another Leinster final another hammering.
Fitness level required was not there this year and no game plan, can't see much changing.

After playing wicklow away in 2013 QF surely this means we will be playing them in Navan?

Good draw i suppose.

For the 4th consecutive year we've avoided Dublin in the draw and on the previous 3 occasions we've made the Leinster final so in theory anything short of another final appearance has to be considered a disappointment. But look we're in Leinster to win it, a final appearance means nothing to me without bringing home the cup, anyway Wicklow will be well up for this game with their new manager so we need to focus on them, they pushed us in 12 and 13 and we don't want them going 1 step further.

Ps, given the game in 2012 was at a neutral ground and 2013 was in Aughrim any chance this game will be in Navan?

I wouldn't b surprised if this wan pencilled for croker. I no 12 was neutral nd preliminary round nd 13 aughrim nd was quarter if been honest I think it could be a double header with d dub game as a way of croker starting to roll there coffers for 2015 championship

It's about time this Meath team started focusing on winning the all Ireland. It's the same year in and year out no excuses this time. There is ample time to prepare and I think I am right in saying that if we don't earn a semi final appearance in the next 3 to 5 years we have permanently drifted away as a force to be reckoned with.

I'd imagine it will be a Dublin v Offaly/Longford and Kildare v Laois/Carlow double header in Croker because they're on the same side of the draw. I'd say Meath v Wicklow and Wexford v Louth/Westmeath will be held at provincial grounds so if they don't give Wicklow home advantage then I'd say it could be either Portlaoise or Tullamore.

Haha hold on hold on, let's try win Leinster first, that's proved a difficult enough fence to get over since 2010.....ahem.....well 2001 really.

Dejavu.

The championship format really needs a massive shake up. Looking at the whole draw it's so stale.

Fast forward to the 3rd Sunday of July already and give Dublin the cup.

4 groups of 8 would add great variety to things. Tops seeds, 8 div 1 teams, second seeds, div 2 and so on. It adds importance to the leave then aswell.

Imagine the novelty of the draw giving us a group with say, cork, Meath, Sligo and Antrim for example. 3 games all in provincial grounds. Something to really look forward to. Rather than the procession that awaits next summer.

Was hoping for a much tougher draw than that... An earlier tilt at the Dubs and find where we really stand much sooner than this year. Ideally we would want to win but if we did lose out to them I think it would give us a much better chance of a longer run in the qualifiers and gaining more momentum to progress further than the last few years...

Sorry, that should have read 4 groups of 8.

Totally agree Jinxi, looking at Marty presenting the draw I just felt this thing is so outdated and stale. The provincial championships are pretty irrelevant in regards of the big picture for teams. Ok its nice to win if your outside the top 4/5 who are contesting the AI, but the back door has devalued that system. With hurling getting more exciting year on year the football needs a serious shakeup. The champions league format with home and away games, 8 groupsof 4, Top 2 in last 16,qf semi and final would be an exciting system. Open draw with the counties seeded according to league finish or previous year finish. Games every second week, no big lay offs and no over training. Games Games Games. But why is it that the ordinary patron can see this but the powers that be just plod along with the same old same old. Rugby reinvented itself with Heinekan cup, Champions league soccer, airtricity league moved to summer, time for the Football to shape up as you wont see 60000 heading to a leinster final for the inevitable.
Love to hear more ideas for a revamp...

Well I think we need to be adaptable with game plans,be less naive and less chopping and changing of players positions.A bit of luck with injuries would be nice too.Should easily make the Leinster Final, after that? I don't really know to be honest.
Agree with the champions league style format too.I have wanted a change for years.

do we want to get to another leinster final ,and be there for to "put up a good show "/ or do we go the backdoor road and take a chance?

Meath now are caught between a rock and a hard place now with this draw. We are expected to beat Wicklow and Westmeath or Louth. Then were through to a Leinster Final where 'you know who' will be there waiting for us. If Meath went out and lost a Leinster Semi Final against our neighbours Westmeath or Louth, the Meath supporters would have the knifes out for the team and management. If we get to a Leinster Final and go out and get another tanking like we did this year the knifes would be out and we end up getting knocked out in round 4 of the qualifiers for the FOUTH YEAR IN A ROW. So now the gauntlet has been laid down to the Meath players and all involved. We can either qualify for a Leinster Final and just lie down again and get humiliated or go into this Leinster campaign with a goal in mind of if we cross swords with Dublin again, we will face them down and dont play with fear have a belief in every single member of the squad! As Joe Brolly said last night, when Donegal went into play Dublin they went in with total and utter belief in themselves and held absolutely no fear whatsoever of the Dubs, and they had a game plan to follow. The teams before them played with fear and no belief at all that they could actually beat Dublin. This belief and no fear attitude has to be drilled into these Meath players all the way through the league and early rounds of the championship if we are to even compete with them. Remember this is a Donegal team that we were within a kick of a ball and 5 seconds of beating on there home patch during the League. An Mhi abu!

Unless our management have done a major stock take, and accept that they have massive ground to make up, i see another poor year ahead .Otherwise perhaps now that Jim Mc Guinness is free, maybe he could be approached for consultancy work.Well any port in a storm !!

Gutted that we didn't get Dublin. I see another Leinster final beating and then get beat to qualifier without putting up a fight.

Gutted we will lose to them in a final instead of a semi. Why?

Do we want to lose against a poor team on our side of the draw?
