The Aftermath

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

So, after a very disheartening performance today, what happens next.

That defeat was very significant and will be very hard to turn things around

I feel that management, although limited made a few disastrous decisions.
Graham Reilly at midfield was a failure and also he made no impact
Wallace came on and wasted more possession and kicked most of Meaths wides.
Newman was on his own and dragged out around the middle (got a goal but really didnt show up)
Brian Meade came on when the game was over and played well

But theres not one good positive to take from this game

My first and last post on this. Everyone of them players should be ashamed of themselves. None deserve to wear the Jersey. Nobody expected us to win but to put in the worst performance in the history of Meath football. People might say it's harsh but at least wexford and laois put it up to the dubs in the first half of both games

The standard in Leinster maybe as bad as ever... theres Dublin..then the rest... and Dublin will dominate for years to come, they have a conveyor belt of talent!

It's very easy for other counties to knock Meath today but I feel some people from outside Leinster do not realise how awesome this Dubln outfit are. Meath can beat Armagh and still be involved in the shake up if the players can bounce back quickly from today's result.

OK we were terrible. Awful is not the word not one of that team can say they performed today. Look if we win against armagh it'll be a alright season. If not there had been no improvement.

Royalo. He had a disaster today. As did 18 others but to say 4th Leinster final is wrong he was excellent in 10 what twas it 4 points? Also it was him sent in that ball for that goal. Wasn't that bad last year when used as defense but yeah overall poor Andy should not play next day.

Lads, Dublin are going to walk the ALl-Ireland this year. There is absolutely no point in being overly critical of the lads. I would say the majority of teams are way behind Dublin in a lot of aspects of the game. We are not much worse than anyone else out there.

The best thing we can do is dust ourselves down and get on with beating Armagh. Dwelling on today will only serve to kill our morale. Dublin are just setting the bar a little higher for us to aim for. That should still be our focus. They won the Leinster minor today too. We need to get working on the talent coming through.

Today has to be the saddest day in Meath football for many a year. Dublin won with so much ease that at times it was men against boys.

To throw Dalton McDonagh, Joey wallace and Bryan McMahon into this Meath team is wrong as none of them are ready for senior inter county football.
Graham Reillys appetite for the game has to be questioned after today. Never have I seen a player with so much promise go stale so quick.

Again the defence as usual let us down with Donal Keogan the exception.
With confidence low, big tasks now await in the qualifiers.

@matthematx What are you on about change of manager. We were singing MOD's praises before the game. Thats whats been our failing in the past chopping and changing managers. When MOD started we were in divison 3 and had just lost to Laois, so we have improved. Don't be a prisoner of the moment

Well if we lose our next game,it will be the third year in a row, that we would have failed to win after the Leinster final..

Tormey tried his best to shore up midfield, but Dublin ran through us at will, wrong tactics (what tactics) from start, management knew what was coming but seemed totally surprised. Cant start next game with same fifteen, Harro, Menton and G Reilly have to go
