Intermediate hurling championship

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

With all the talk of the Jubilee cup, I would like to get some peoples opinions of the intermediate hurling championship. Reading the reports, it would seem Drumree and Kilskyre are off to a flying start. Drumree impressed me the most, with 4-06 to 5 points in the opening half. Not sure if this was terrible defending, or just good team work from the Drumree outfit. Was anyone at this game at all?

yourname, maybe so, but I heard Drumree have an extremely youthful team and they are all well able to hurl.

Not being smart but if they were all able to hurl, they'd still be senior. That's just my opinion on it. Kells beat by Dunboyne..Surprising Result.. Wolfe Tones, Kilskyre, Drumree, Between them for the Championship..

IHC next week and some important fixtures in both groups. Any idea who will come out on top?

Drumree v Kilskyre
Dunderry v Don Ash
Moylagh v Kilmessan

Ratoath v Clan Na Gael
Tones v Kells
Ratoath v Dunboyne

I see group a as clear with Winners of Drumree game topping group and Dunderry in third place. Other group not sure. Tones a big disappointment and need win v Kells which is hard to call. Open group

Drumree v Kilskyre - Very hard to call, both teams have looked strong in opening rounds. Go for Drumree by couple of points
Don Ash v Dunderry - Dunderry by 4 - 5
Kilmessan v Moylagh - Moylagh easily, kilmessan seem very weak

Athboy v Ratoath - Another very close game to call but going for Athboy to come out stronger at the end by a few points
Kells v Tones - Tones easily, kells seem to be struggling
Dunboyne v Dunboyne - Dunboyne were very disappointing against Athboy after good win in the first round. Kiltale to win

Drumree v Kilskyre- Two good teams, I can see Drumree just winning this by 2 points
Dunderry v Don Ash- Huge game, DonAsh well off the pace vs Kilskyre so Dunderry by 5
Moylagh v Kilmessan- Moylough haven't impressed but Kilmessan are struggling, Moylough by 8

Ratoath v Clan Na Gael- Tricky one to call, but CNG should have enough
Tones v Kells- Wolfe Tones by 3
Kiltale v Dunboyne- Kiltale by 5

Anyone know when the next round of the hurling c'ship might be?? heard rumours it might be the wkend of the 8th-9th August, would be a bit harsh on teams with lads that might be on holidays considering its not a hurling wkend on the fixture planner and its only 2 weeks away and still no confirmation!!!

Yes, it's definitely hurling championship that weekend - it's been flagged as being hurling for the last couple of weeks, clubs seemed to know anyway. There is a new fixture planner after being released by the County Board, you can get it from their Facebook or Twitter page.

Kilmessan battered Ashbourne tonight to stay in league division 2. seen Ashbourne three times this year so far and they've gotten worse and worse each time, would have to seriously question all this pre season work they are supposed to have done, hasn't worked a bit, very poor side

Was also at several Ashbourne games this season. Really have to say they were disappointing to say the least. Players seem to lack desire with the exception of maybe one or two. Heard a lot about their pre season training and if what they did was true they should never have been in the position they have found themselves in this year.

What you think is the problem in Ashbounre, seen them last year and they werewere very unlucky not to make semi final. Is it the manger or players. I only thing I will say is by the look of kilmessan team it was very strong. Plus did Ashbounre not hammer them in first round so there is no way kilmessankilmessan had the same team.

Regardless of what team they faced Ashbourne have been on a decline all season. A lot of talk from various players and club men about the effort that was being put in before and during the season. At the en of the day whats the point in doing hard grueling training sessions if you haven't got the basic skills to back it up. In my opinion it is one of two things. The first being their manager isn't getting the best from his players. Or second the players aren't bothered. What ever the reason its a shame because they've some good players

Ya they beat Kilmessan's 2nd team in championship, but they were able to play some senior players in the league game. I mean last year, Ashbourne won division 3 by a mile, got to the quarter finals, and were unlucky with the ref against Kilskyre. This year they've lost all league games, been relegated, and if my maths are right if they lose against Moylough they are out of the championship. Such a contrast to last year
