My Predictions are SFC Na Fianna V Summerhill- Summerhill by 4 Gaeil Colmcille V Dunshauglin -- Cilles to win Navan OM V Senchalstown -- Navan to set down a big marker Blackhall V Oldcastle-- Blackhall by 5. Duleek/Bellewstown V Dunboyne-- Dunboyne by 7 Wolfe Tones V Skyrne-- Skyrne by 4 Walterstown V Simonstown-- will be close could end up as a draw. Donaghmore Ashbourne V Moynalvey-- Ashbourne should have enough to push through.

Is it definitely the Easter weekend the 2nd Round is fixed for.
Or is there a likelihood of beign a week later to give a two week break between games.

I must say the amount of injuries to our county stars will certainly weaken teams considerably and perhaps the club is yet again going to lose out. For example, Michael Newman missing for any team is a huge loss, but for kilmainham to be without him is enormous. Also, Summerhill will play their two opening games without 2 key players, Longwood opening games without Burke? Maybe I am being negative, but waiting until there is clear space seems more logical where teams can plan with a full compliment. Cant see the advantage of playing these early rounds when we have to re visit in a few months to complete! Could be all over for some teams in middle of April!!

What about the teams playing on Friday night 5 days after Louth game!!how is that fair to clubs who have county players involved prepare for championship it's a typical meath joke

Playing 5 days after a match which is of little significance and playing 5 days after some of the sessions that go as training could cause an even bigger problem for some players. Playing without injured players is a problem, however if you were to wait until everyone was 100% fit then it would possible take a 'full decade' to finish the championships!

browncows I understand what your saying, but at least if the player gets injured it will be on the clubs grounds, not at county level. I think its only fair to respect the clubs who provide the county with their assets. My point is that by playin these 2 games, it isnt going to finish the championship any earlier.

tackleberry- I was just making a different point, however I would agree with most of what you have said and it makes little sense to start a competition in April that never finishes until late October irrespective of how early or late the county team is in the championship

Have said it many times here before that I don't understand why they don't finish out the leagues then Feis & Tailteann Cups which should bring us up to end of Meath's season then start the championship. As you guys have rightly pointed out we're still looking at the usual April start and October finish which is far too dragged out. The leagues now lose the majority of their credibility at this stage of the season as players and managers are more concerned with the championship.
