Meath minors 2014

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Just thought i'd start the ball rolling, Eoin Carroll has been appointed manager for the year. Heard he's been with these lads since under 15 and is well liked.
Does anyone who has been to club games or Meath underage games know of any good players who will be playing for the team?

These lads were all U17's in this year's squad & are eligable for next year!

Ryan Montague, Evan Hendrick, Dan Ormsby, Corey Leddy, Boylan, Duffy Morley Davey Mcloughlin all good players to add to the strong names already mentioned. Carroll had them playign quick fast football all year so they should go far.

You have Dan Ormsby, Gavin McGowan, Shane Cummiskey, Dylan Brady, Jonathen Lynch and a few U16's from last year like Podge McGowan and the two Ryan twins Ross and Ronan

Last year's team was carried by the scoring capability of wallace and Rowe. I know it's early days but I believe next year's squad is much more balanced than last years

Darragh Kelly (Ratoath footballer) who played hurling for Meath Minors, then Dublin Minors, can he play for the Meath Minor Footballers?

id be shocked if he could play for the meath footballers it wouldn't make sense if he was able to, we sadly have lost a fair few very talented footballers to the dark side (Dublin) who would not only have had an impact on underage meath teams but even made an impact on senior teams in years to come, an awful shame

Yes I was only being told about that a few weeks ago that this team could be helped a lot if those players hadn't transferred into Dublin.if I'm not mistaken I think there was 3 from ratoath alone ?which is a huge loss to them as they now struggle at this grade.i pressume the south meath clubs are affected mostly by this.highly unlikely he would be able to play for two different counties at the same time

meathforsam11 has it only been ratoath people that have left or is this an occurring throughout the royal county?? would we even know if they still had the talent to play at county level? hopefully they wont be needed and the likes of Rowe Mcgowan Osullivan and harnan show any team that our young royals are ready to make a statement in the championship in minor and prove were getting back to being a force within the gaa again

Andy McEntee has done a wonderful job over the last two years considering the short time he had to deal with, new squads, club fixture debacle, schools games etc. He worked tirelessly with a very good bunch of players, but when a team turns up for a big game, or not in our case, you just wonder are we pushing our guys too hard in too short a time. When you look at the Kildare's & Dublin's of today, they turn out young men with a physique that you cannot produce in one winter.
Now before anybody starts defending some great people that we have, I do recognise we have them, but they are not being listened to and the managers of the younger teams are not getting respect of some players, because those players have treated the managers like Caretaker managers, or fellows filling gaps until "The Meath Minor Manager" is put in place.

emm.... Eoin who.... he must be top class to oust McEntee who I hear had freshen up his backroom and had Gerry Cooney and Colm Coyle with him this year... good news for Oldcastle as Colm might stay now

Does anyone else think this is a strange development? Seems like Andy Mc Entee wanted to continue in the position.Talking to some people close to the set up the training and preparation over the past 2 years compared with anything other counties were doing in terms of strength and conditioning and coaching.Real progress seemed to be made and the team reached an All Ireland 2 years ago granted through the back door but still. If Colm Coyle was going to get involved this year as well surely the set up was going to be even stronger.Yet the powers that be have gone with a less experienced untried option.Something doesn't add up.

The management team was on the sports news on LMFM earlier. Tommy Dowd, Ciaran Shankey from Kilmainhamwood are selectors. There might be another one, I can't remember, while Mick O'Brien is an advisor to the management.
