NFL Round Three: Meath v Kildare

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Since most of the talk has seemed to turned to this game , I thought I'd start its own thread even if its a few weeks away
Firstly I do not accept and never have accepted Kildare are top 3/4 team. And to be fair I think most Kildare supporters don't either and it was media led to promote them to that without any real substance
However Kildare are a good team and deserve to be respected 2 bad performances and questionable selections by management has put them in a position I'm sure they did not want to be in , a must win game in Navan
At beginning of year I think most Meath fans would have been happy with mid table of div 2 , however after 2 wins there thoughts are turning more to possible promotion and a 3rd win would cement that idea
So all in all a very exciting game awaits us in Navan. So what are the views on it ? Will Meath finally break the cycle of last 4 game looses? Or will Kildare get there season back on track?
Personally I would prefer victory in the Summer for Meath against Kildare (if both teams get that far) than victory hear. But I also think a win for Meath just may make that championship victory more likely. Views from all including Kildare supporters.

At the moment the Kildare forwards couldn't hit the side of the house.
It'd be just like them to start kicking them over from all angles against us!

If Monaghan can find their shooting boots within eight days, Kildare will surely find theirs within three weeks. Shame the game isn't next weekend, while we are on a roll. Never mind, the lads should be in a good place right now, so if they can bring the momentum and intensity to their play that's building up with each match, I'm fairly positive we can get a result.

two wins from two is a great start to the season. monaghan was a nervous game as it was to show us where we were going if we had lost would we have lost out on where we are now and what would have happen meaths confidants but we had 2 wins from 2 westmeath on the other hand was a walk in the park. Brian and mark worked well in the middle of the field work well yesterday in my opinion if they turn up in navan in 3 weeks time we well beat kildare comfortably as there performance to date is poor goes to show meath beat monaghan by 6 and monaghan beat kildare by 5.

The game against Kildare will depend far more on the mental state of our lads rather than form or talent at this stage because beating Meath has turn into a bit of a routine for this Kildare team by now.

I have to say though that I'd would be very disappointed if we don't turn them over because I think they've beaten us 4 times on the bunch now and this has to stop. What if we do end up meeting in the championship (which is by no means a certainty), a win over them in march would set our lads up far better than yet another bloody defeat so I hope we can do it.

The game is a bit far away at this stage to give a prediction but I'd be happy win a 1 point to be honest.

Always said kildare are like arsenal floating about the top but never gona win anything ,listen there overrated ,remember if seamus kenny had not of got that injury we wouldmof won and gg goal allowed in croker it would have changed the momentom .i agree we must get that lilly white monkey off our back and i do feel there is a good vibe hovering around the meath team .in fact i feel were on the right path and i hope im right .definetely a must win not onl for the points but to let the players know there hard grafting is paying off .

Yeah agree either game last year could have gone either way. And also agree there is a vibe coming over this team a sort of strut if you like to call it that. I honestly think we can win this it would be a great confidence booster too. But I don't think it end of line if we loose we won't be back to square one. Bit a wim now that would set the team and manage$ent up nicely. And of course us the supporters

It is not often the case that a league game has much significance for both teams, but I think that this game will be very telling. It will be a very real test of this Meath team, and whether or not the apparently good start to the league, is an illusion or not. Kildare, in order to avoid the threat of relgeation, have to win this game, so a win will be a very significant result, while a defeat, will confirm that no real progress is being made. It is as simple as that.

well glad we have the break from the N F L but D C U are no push overs either but at least its a match that can be used to tighten up the forward line and sort out our defence Meath are waiting for kildare on the back of 2 wins they arent that good they got lucky westmeath were awful so the lads will have to focus

Seen this on kildare forum. But the poster seems to forget we beat monaghan by 6 they lost by 5?
Just thought it was a different view and shows what they think of us
Roll on the 3rd of march and we will see who aren't any good

RoyalDunne ... Let some of the flourbags brag all they like. Nothing feels worse than a defeat after talking/hyping themselves up. I'm all for some belly-tickling, but Meath supporters should remain modest (don't react, just stay quietly confident within ourselves) and hopefully the lads will do the business in three weeks time.

So we have two games (two weeks in a row) ,and our next game is Kildare in three weeks time?? Very odd the way the fixtures are,is there any reason for this? I'm sure we would beat Kildare if we had to play them this weekend, but don't understand the three week break..

The arrogance of some Kildare posters,I have a lot of respect for quite a lot of Kildare people, but I mean come on,I don't know of any great teams who win nothing. This Kildare team cannot improve, last year was their maximun, they may win a leinster in the next few years, but an All -Ireland? Not a hope.. They think because they should have beaten Dublin that they should win an All-Ireland,but Wexford should have beaten Dublin last year too..

Yep ziggy I agree completely. I honestly don't know the justification for there arrogance. 4 ai qf in. 4 years and one semi. No leainsters. Top 8 team at best
