Replying To anfearbeag:  "I'm not sure who made the decision to leave the u-21 players to train + play with their own squad. Was it the county board or was it a decision made between the seniors and U-21 managers? Either way it was the right decision and hopefully the U-21s can go on a good run this year. I also hope that they take the same enlightened approach to the Junior team, and that it is actually taken seriously this year. There must be a good few lads cut from the senior panel who would be eligible for the Juniors. The U-21s also have some good players from intermediate/junior clubs. If a decent manager was put in charge of the juniors, and they were given some backing by the county board, it could be used as a feeder team for the seniors. giving some promising young junior players a level of training and games that is a step above what they will get at club level. At least then if they are brought into the seniors, the step up in class won't be so big."
I'd agree with all of that.

Put Sean reilly midfield with jones ok. O Neil from what I've seen a good defender Conklin could fill that role too. But we struggled there Sunday so something has to b done. On kickouts we looked clueless to b honest but I'm not knocking anyone here. These things im sure will b right come championship

Must be close to announcing the team for the weekend no? That would give us an indication.

From what I'm hearing Barry has keep all his minor players from last year on the panel and has let players that have played for the under 21s last year go.

Sky Sources: Rowe, Harnan, Meade, McGowan, and halligan have all not made the cut.

All due to injury, although I would be surprised if Meade didn't make it.

Harnan and McGowan aren't injured. Also the vice captain hasn't been training or playing any matches so why should he be involved

Sean Meade has been playing he just got injured v Cavan, why wouldn't he be in the squad? Barry Callaghan said he would only miss a few weeks.

He's from Nobber. He played as a wing half forward in the Hastings cup against Wicklow, so I assume that's his position. He looked impressive that night, albeit against poor opposition. Very quick and good running with the ball. I would be hugely surprised if he was dropped off the panel completely.

Back from the DCU St Mary's game. 2 things struck me. 1. The far less talented team on paper won through hardwork, smart play and never say die, we could learn a lot. And 2, probably more importantly the number of no name players from other countries that played while 2 of our most touted prospects Dan O'Neill and Thomas O'Reilly didn't play. Not good signs for our future
