It will be intersting to see the teams the two managers put out on Sunday in Ratoath !!!!! gardentree (Meath) - Posts: 194 - 22/03/2017 14:45:49 1969994 Link 0 |
I'd doubt that. Think both managers will give fringe players some game time. An opertunity to give lads a run and a chance to stake a claim for a place in the team without showing your hand too much.

I think we're getting a bit ahead of ourselves thinking Meath and Wicklow are mad for the mind games and trying to bluff the other team. Every Meath player has grown up playing Mayo/Wicklow/Kildare/Carlow etc. in underage competitions and have played them over and over again every year in the Kehoe/Walsh cup, the league and the Christy Ring. Meath know who Wicklow's strong players are and vice versa. CastleBravo (Meath) - Posts: 1639 - 22/03/2017 18:22:40 1970086 Link 7 |
I dont think either manager wil be lookin to do mind games. both of Them will be giving there fringe players a run and see how they get on. No mind games no foolin anyone just a good time to give players a shot. hurlingnut (Wicklow) - Posts: 311 - 22/03/2017 22:45:17 1970207 Link 0 |
Game in Ratoath, its a wet pitch at the b est of times, if this weather keeps up it will be unplayable, what then ? gardentree (Meath) - Posts: 194 - 23/03/2017 08:15:56 1970260 Link 0 |
Why? Regardless of this Sunday's game I don't think Meath will be complacent going into the final against them. As the poster above has said we've seen enough of Wicklow over the years to know they can be a serious threat on the day. They might not have shown that in the last few outings against them but that was partly due to their own internal problems, make no mistake the threat is always there and Meath management will know this. I have been at matches over the years that Meath have lost against Wicklow, In 2014 Wicklow were promoted to Div 2A and they came straight back came down, but they won DIV 2B with a lot of the players that are still hurling with them, Andy O'Brien, Moorhouse, Henderson are just three of them that I have seen on their team during the league this year. Meath also lost to Wicklow in the All Ireland U21B final in 2015 and 5/6 of that team are now regulars on the senior side. This final will be no walk in the park for Meath and the management will have to have the body and minds of the Meath team 100% right if Meath are to Beat Wicklow on Saturday week. Any of you want to start a debate on what team Martin Ennis and his selectors (by the way who are his selectors this year?) should pick for the final ? Would be an interesting debate for anyone on this forum that thinks he/she know something about Meath hurling, WHOS IS GOING TO HE THE BALL ROLLING NAME YOUR TEAM gardentree (Meath) - Posts: 194 - 24/03/2017 13:03:16 1970685 Link 0 |
I'll take a wild guess that No.1 will be Shane McGann........ Redsalltheway (Meath) - Posts: 116 - 24/03/2017 14:12:05 1970708 Link 1 |

Attended the game today in Ratoath, can anyone tell me will many of them Wicklow players be playing in the league final? Very average. Great to see Gavin Mc Gowan get a solid game. Two of last years minor team were exceptional. Peter Farrell looked like he had experience beyond years and Michael Cullen came on and brought a lot of energy. Future could be bright in trim Meathgaalad (Meath) - Posts: 169 - 26/03/2017 19:52:04 1971390 Link 1 |
Can anyone name the starting 15 that played today in ratoath ? Bigballer30 (Meath) - Posts: 16 - 26/03/2017 22:58:11 1971539 Link 0 |
This is the way meath line out yesterday not as per numbers on the match program Started Yesterday and they brought on 5 subs as well 1. John McCluskey Na Fianna 2. Liam Fergson Kells 3. James Andrews Trim 4. Padraig Kelly Kiltale 5. Steffan Kelly Killyon 6. Daragh Kelly Ratoath 7. Keith Keogan Killyon 8. Gary Kelly Kildalkey 9. Michael O,Grady Dunboyne 10. David Reilly Drumree 11. Jack Walsh O,Mahonys 12. Cathal McCabe Kiltale 13. Gavin McGowan Ratoath 14. Peter Farrell Trim 15. Luke Martin Dunderry Subs , Cieran O'Rourke Trim,Mikie Cullen Trim,Luke Moran Trim, Eamonn McDonnagh Clan na Gael, Martin Healey Kildalkey 11 different clubs represented in starting 15 and 12 clubs in all represented in yesterdays squad. The net is cast far and wide by the looks of things Martin Ennis is carrying a big squad because on my calculations only Keith Keogan, Padraig Kelly and Gavin McGowan have started a national Hurling Match from the starting 15 yesterday. Looks like a real strong squad if you take some of the performances out of yesterdays match. Had Wicklow many regular starting 15 players playing yesterday do any of you know ? WHEN IS FINAL ? gardentree (Meath) - Posts: 194 - 27/03/2017 10:48:42 1971676 Link 0 |
Just looking at the Wicklow team from yesterday, I'd say only about 3 or 4 of that team would make the starting 15 for the match next week. I think yesterday was a chance to try out some fringe players. liam500 (Wicklow) - Posts: 171 - 27/03/2017 11:10:52 1971692 Link 0 |
no Gavin McGown?

McGowan played well yesterday scored 4 points from play in the 45 minutes he was on the pitch. Ennis and his selectors will have some job picking a starting 15, looks like he has plenty of options to pick from. any word where and when the final is to be played gardentree (Meath) - Posts: 194 - 27/03/2017 13:08:16 1971773 Link 0 |

looking at the Meath team yesterday I would say only two of them will start, two of Padrigh Kelly,Daragh Kelly,Keith Keogan,Gavin McGowan . in your opinion What would be the 4/5 starters from Wicklow team yesterday ? gardentree (Meath) - Posts: 194 - 27/03/2017 13:11:43 1971777 Link 0 |

Only starters in my opinion from that team could be: Kearns Masterson Doyle Donohoe Will be interesting to see the full team this week. liam500 (Wicklow) - Posts: 171 - 27/03/2017 14:47:15 1971832 Link 0 |
