RD, I think I saw your golden boy having a kick about at half time. I was sitting down in the sun so couldn't see much. GlasagusOr (Meath) - Posts: 1348 - 07/05/2017 21:03:48 1985048 Link 0 |

yeah but only with about 15 left, didn't really make any impact but hard to judge in 15 mins. O'Reilly came on at half time, kicked a few wides and was beaten to the ball by his man a few times. Didn't have a good day

I know its only a challenge but we had probably our 6 backs that will start next month and they shipped 3 goals against cavan. Not looking good SheridansTry (Meath) - Posts: 180 - 07/05/2017 21:50:40 1985066 Link 0 |
Jones impressed again today. Getting more from Menton too when he plays alongside him. Championship pairing sorted. Full back line is fairly settled. Still have an issue with the half back line. Newman was rusty and overcomplicated things at times. O'Reilly won his fair share of ball but just had an off day with the shooting boots. O'Sullivan takes too many risks which we ultimately get punished for when we lose possession. Lenihan really stepping up this year. Wallace still not back to his best. But again, the most encouraging thing for me is the emergence of Jones. Conlon could also have a big part to play this year. MarkMyWords (Meath) - Posts: 498 - 07/05/2017 22:43:11 1985076 Link 0 |

Graham Reilly is out with fairly bad injury to knee after foul on him playing for Colmcilles. I believe he will be lucky to be ready to go for the Championship. Loyalroyal17 (Meath) - Posts: 627 - 08/05/2017 08:34:51 1985107 Link 0 |

Very hard to read too much into challenges, always a difficult thing to do, if memory serves me right we were beat by limerick in 96 comprehensively before winning all ire, also last year we beat Donegal by 16 points or something like that. Its all about keeping fitness levels up, and players getting use to each other. royaldunne (Meath) - Posts: 19449 - 08/05/2017 09:17:14 1985124 Link 2 |

Yep, and a lot of the smaller issues will hopefully be ironed out over the next few weeks. Didn't think we were too bad at all but as I said, very frustrating that we didn't put it to bed. Jones was involved a bit last year but he didn't get a proper run at it. For his age, 19/20 I think, he's extremely well built physically so isn't lacking in that dept. He's very mobile and can play ball. Made several surges through the middle in both challenge games and clocked up a few scores. Seems a clever lad too, finds himself in the right places to mop up ball which can sometimes go unnoticed. Early days of course and it's the first I've really seen of him but hopefully he'll continue to grow into the role MarkMyWords (Meath) - Posts: 498 - 08/05/2017 21:30:55 1985317 Link 0 |
