Ye i was up at that one and we could have won it that day. I still think this Meath team is not finished this year yet. I think we still have a big perfomance in us hopefully its today. Apart from Dublin and kerry i wouldnt fear anyone else

I am finding it hard to see how Meath win this game unless Donegal have gone backwards quite a bit. Regardless of what style of football both teams play,Personally I think Donegal have better players and more options available to them. They can play men behind the ball and yet if they want to use Murphy as a target man they have the option of putting high balls on top of the square and he can do damage. Likewise they have players who can run direct at our defense and we have been weak when teams do this to us.

Our performance against Sligo was terrible and no disrespect to Sligo but on the night they were even worse and yet they could have got something out of the game. However it was our first game in the qualifiers and I would hope that we will improve on that. If we are to win the game you would think that we need to start well and put Donegal under pressure on the scoreboard as i would imagine that it will be hard to come from behind as Donegal will shut up shop if they find themselves ahead.

My heart hopes Meath will do it, my head says Donegal with a bit to spare.

On the basis of how weak this current Donegal team are I think we will win by 3 points. Donal Lenihan has to be more mobile in the forward line and be more active in winning his own ball as Donegal will not only employ a sweeper but will defend in numbers. We need to silence Michael Murphy (in the friendliest way possible!) and limit their scoring threat. Hopefully Mickey Newman will have an impact off the bench if needed. I read that this will be Meaths all ireland final I disagree I still believe we can go far just need to stay grounded and hope we don't pick up any injuries.

Royaloptimist................from one of the more pessimistic persuasion i agree with you....We simply have not got the players. I reckon we have 7 or 8. ANDY,Mc, Mick o Dowd or anyone else cant work miracles. Club football in the county confirms that.. Yeh......Donegal....no great shakes either!,but th ey have better players than we have for sure. Still this is Meath we are talking about. Maybe some of the ould fighting spirit, belief, and determination will return, and we pull it off very much against the odds. An awful lot of HOPING . .The younger players untested like JONES, Conlon, etc. may alter things in our favour. Just cant see a win though. But it would be great to be proven wrong!

Just can't see us wining this to be honest. Going on our performances so far I would think Donegal will get at least 2 goals which will put us under serious pressure to get scores given their defensive set up. We haven't been able to find the net either and if we set up defensively the way we did against Sligo scores will be hard come by. Donegal are a long way down the road playing this way and at present are comfortable with it. Donegal by 4 hopefully I'm wrong.

Agreed McBrearty is the danger man. Murphy has been given a role around midfield this year takes away from his threat in my opinion. Hope he stays out there today.

"Apart from Dublin and Kerry. " are you having a laugh ? We are generally rated in the bottom 10 teams in the country ,so I cannot see where this bombshell has come from ! Even the back room boys would not be this optimistic ! We are struggling badly at present ,and I cannot see this changing this season anyway ,as no depth to our squad ,and very limited . Having said that I see no real options on the club scene that have not been tried at this point so I think it will take a few years for new talent to come through .

Really looking forward to this game this evening. Should be an electric atmosphere. Both sets of supporters don't seem to know what to expect from their teams today. If anything the donegal supporters seem more negative about their chances today than us. I just hope meath have one big performance in them for today. Think it will go to the wire. Meath by 2 points in a battle. Let's get behind the team today lads no matter what.

not good news. toher was poor the last day and doesn't look great in midfield imo.

Disappointed we didn't get the win today. Also gutted the season is over by July. At least Harry Rooney might be back next season.

Hard luck to Meath, royaldunne. Thought ye might get a draw at the end. Just caught bits of the game on the Radio. Seemed to be very close all the way.
