Meath v Dublin

In terms of player performance any positives in game again Dublin?

Thought paddy and Harnan did well.

Cillian showed well and is our best forward.

Newman gave glimpses of what he can do

What's most disappointing about the game is that Dublin were there for the taking. We didn't capitalise in the first half and the failed to take chances and committed daft fouls in the second. Second half was really pathetic

Newman had no support,he made a brilliant catch in the second half,he looked around and nobody was there,he ended up slipping and the chance was gone.

Fear we played with fear full stop no contact or pressure in second half.connelly did wot wanted Flynn pretty much the same. Fenton real midfielder kick points compete for kick outs make runs. Our lads told do different don't rock the boat b good nice lads sickened by wot I saw need tactically ruthless hard edged man Barry Callaghan b my call.know he with minors but has them homing along nicely.nice footballers are all well and good but you need a few dogs to get the thing fired up.young players I have no prob with but get the right ones with no fear and not afraid to speak their mind. I say to many yes men from top down in that team ,management included.

I'd like to see Barry win an all ireland this year with the minors and take over the under 21s eventually.

In future he would be a candidate for seniors

We don't do that though we were quick to get rid of McEntee even though he got a minor team to the All-Ireland final.

Just wondering why Colm O Rourke did not comment at all on Dublin/Meath match in his usual article in to Day's Independent.? As he is the leading GAA analyist i found it odd Anyone else notice this? Am i missing something??? Maybe this may be deemed an odd question, but why should it ?

Interesting alright, perhaps his words would not have been flattering so decided to hold off days before a do or die qualifier. Speaking of October Rourke, I mentioned height in the other thread, and how our taller players aren't good enough to do what's needed against Dublin - what I would give for a fit SOR there, he's still only 27, how many other forwards gave Rory Carroll the runaround?

Back to beating Dublin, Andy Mac for any hope it's that simple. And another Dunboyne man Lowndes if we can get him signed for the Royal :-)

Yes.......but i was hoping to hear what Colm had to say specifically about the match. Maybe even go as far as suggesting how and where Meath go from here..I always consider he presents fairly balanced views. I note i cannot locate anything anywhere where he contributes to Meath football debate to any real extent in last year or so.

dunboynelad- If he's that good and I'm not saying he's not, why then has he not won a senior championship with a club in our own county including your own- are you now trying to sign up a few Dubs to play?

I think O Rourke summed it up on Sunday game when he referred to the Meath display as depressing, maybe today was wrong time to say exactly what he thinks, but when Meaths season ends I would expect to hear from him and other other influential Meath men on where we go from here, I would include the Chronicle in this, as over the last few years they seem unwilling to say anything negative about current setup.

How could he win a Keegan with Dunboyne when he hasn't had them?

He brought Ashbourne to Senior and left them very healthy

And he's achieved everything he can now at club level now, with a not so fancied Ballyboden that made it all the more impressive.

What a bizzarre post

My thoughts too and fair dos to him. We're all in the same boat and want the same thing, in reality our championship starts now. Let's get behind the lads.
