Colm O'Rourke's article in Independent 8/5/16

Ring fencing County players with a 13 day rule , is fine and dandy , while the club players may be expected to line out 5-6 times in the same period depending on the amount of Competitions they are involved in . Elitism again . Burnout at this stage is not only for the elite players as we are all made to believe . Look at dual club players . .....

Would agree 100% with O'Rourke's article, however it will not change anything as it appears that the clowns are in charge. Everyone should know that the club is at the heart of the association and this needs to be addressed from the top down, alternatively the clubs players should form an association /organisation in every county and the relevant people may find out that the club this organisation would then by their numbers could have a far greater say than the county Reps.

Reading my last post! words were left out leaves a bit of confusion. My point is that nothing will change until the clubs in each county form an organisation equivalent to the GPA- and by their numbers they could have considerable clout.

Browncows so you are suggesting more committees as an answer. The reason we have such inertia in the GAA is because we have far too many committees and sub committees and if you ever sat on one you would realise that nothing ever gets done as everyone is only looking after their own patch. Change of any description is resisted . Only a few months ago we had the fiasco of trying to change the championship structure to 16 teams in each division. I dont know what the answer is but I do know committees wont change anything.

Poormouth- never mentioned committees as I have no time for such talking shops whether it is in football or at work. Unless club players do something nothing will change. Changing championship structures so that 16 teams compete in the senior will do little to improve football- its just tinkering-change for the sake of change. It would help the football in the county if the county players were released to play league matches with their clubs- 6 weeks before a championship match against Louth/Carlow! Furthermore we are degrading the club championship inside the county by asking players to play a county challenge match 5/6 day before club championship fixtures which are due next Friday /Saturday. Those are the sort of real changes that could have an immediate effect.
