Time for everyone to move on and get behind Andy Mcentee..
Fresh start just like when McGuinness took over Donegal..
Lot of talent but no direction..
Believe it or not Micko has started the ship in right direction but now we need the right man and Andy is that..
Any taughts?"
Strangely I agree.. he refreshed Meath by bringing in the young players but was headless in every other aspect.

It's a matter of molding the lads Mick brought in

Tactical play needs to change

Yes confirmed by RTE MOD stepped down. Thanks due to him nevertheless. He did his best, and that simply was not good enough. On a human level no doubt he will be disappointed, but he will get over it. In the big scheme of things its just football....nobody died!!

Ziggy correct , even though I went to all the games I called this last year and didn't participate on this forum as it was a fruitless exercise .
I just wish he left last year

I would blame the County Board as much if not more than MOD for this pointless year of Meath football. I think the way they handled MOD's reappointment was both baffling and arrogant and sadly for all of us they weren't rewarded for their arrogance as we had yet another dismal season.

They have to choose their next steps very carefully, otherwise Meath football really is in trouble, we're 15 years away from the top table and still getting worse.

very true and people would be less likely to go to games.

Replying To Htaem:  "Genuinely like to thank Mick O'Dowd for this efforts managing the Meath team, it can't be an easy job, especially when things don't go your way. All the best going forward Micko.

On the other hand, shame on the county board for sacrificing a whole year of Meath intercounty football by elevating MOD back into the job last year when the man simply wasn't up to it and his team was regressing. It was a farcical situation, wrote off 2016 completely and seriously called their competence and judgement into question.

I beg them now to either get things right or do the honourable thing themselves, like MOD finally did."
Good point, well made.
County Executive officials have overall responsibility for Meath GAA - present and into the future.
They determine who are the county team managers & for how long.
Meath GAA urgently need a clear well coordinated plan without delay- with drive, expertise & finance to (monitor &) execute it.

If there have been any lasting effects on the players by repeated senior county losses over the last 4 years, hope they will be undone.

Here we go again....Get Andy McEntee.....He seems the most popular choice here. But don't count your chickens yet. The appointment is in the gift of the County Board or rather the management committee. They will put a name before a meeting of the County Board and the nominee is either accepted or rejected. If rejected all starts over again with the management again putting a name before a later (not necessarily the next) meeting of the County Board. So this could go on a while....if I were a club delegate I would push hard to get the ball rolling...but I predict some strange going-ons before we have our next manager. Andy is not a shoe-in.

I have read enough bull scutter from a certain few on here. Have ye no idea of what is going on in Meath football that you are so one tracked that you do not see what is happening.

1. Meath football is in transition every county even Dublin has gone through the like of this
2. Meath football is heading back the right way and will be a force in next 5/6 years
3. Remember Meath did not win a Leinster from 1970 to 1986 and back through the decades long barren runs this was a regular experience
4. Meath while one of the stronger Leinster counties have no right to be always considered a Top County because they are called Meath
5. Of the 30 or so inter county players at least 20 have only 1 or 2 years intercounty experience
6. Our top player Donal Keoghan is 24 and has 4 or 5 years inter county football played
7. Graham Reilly has a little more but is still mid 20s
8. Add in players like Micky Burke, Paddy ORourke and Micky Newman and you struggle to find another player that can be called experienced
9. Harry Rooney our great hope in midfield has barely a year playing with Meath and has played 7 League games with Meath. SEVEN where was John McDermott at the same stage probably not as advanced as Rooney but he McDermott had players like Harnan, McEntee and Hayes to support his development. Rooney will be a star for Meath yet if our Loyal band of supporters don't drive him away. McEntee Cassells Lyons and co played in the days when Longford and Wexford knocked us out of the Leinster Championship in the 80s but stayed around to be LEADERS under Boylan.
10. Our other good young players will also be stars for Meath if they are given the chance to develop and they will be Leaders for Meath in the future Padraig Harnan, Cillian OSullivan, Bobby and Cian OBrien, James and Shane McEntee, The Wallaces, OCoileain, Dara Rowe and other players from Sean Barrys U21s and Barry Callaghans minors.
11. The present Meath management are working towards leaving a decent panel of players for the next Meath management and the things said on these forums is bad form at times.
12. We are still recovering from the setup under Banty that set Meath football back a Decade at least in my own opinion.
13. Mick ODowd is pointing the Meath ship in the right direction he will not be around when we Finally win the Leinster again but he will have had a lot to do with taking the steps to get there."
You are about the only one to talk sense here. Don't blame micko the rubbish I seen from the players today proves you cant make a silk purse out of a sows ear. Micko's efforts will see Meath in a better place down the line

I have a feeling McEntee will not be the saviour everyone thinks he will be both macs are a bit off the wall and at this present time they are what the Meath senior team needs
Our problem is our players very young but have gained great experience under micko and we will see that over next three years
2020 is a realistic aim to win something Dublin will have slipped back by then and the groundwork done in last 4 years will ensure Meath are best posed to take the mantle again
