Best Wishes To Nick Weir.

I'm sure all of Meath Hurling will get behind the new hurling management team. Weir appears to be putting a super backroom staff together for 2020. Might be a bit lite in local club knowledge, but I hope to be proved wrong. All the other elements are well on par. #hontheroyals #anmhíabú

Yes I said it on another thread. I think he is a good appointment. Outside experience but coming from a similar county as ourselves.

Looks to be a very good set up with a good backroom team in place. Really looking forward to the start of their campaign

The only concern you might have is they all seem to be from outside the county. Does anyone know if he has any selectors from Meath clubs? Is Paul Reilly staying on for some continuity from last year? Would be good to have someone in there from Kildalkey or Kiltale who know the club scene and players around. Would I be right in saying that the last time Weir was involved in a Meath club team was 2013?

From a players perspective, anyone any idea on who is in and who may have gone from 2019? I see Micky Burke has been signed up which is great, huge amount of experience around the place and the footballers loss is very much the hurlers gain. I presume Nick Weir played a big part in coaxing him away from the footballers. Hopefully Paddy Conneely and Gary Kelly can be brought in. Kelly was outstanding this year at full back and Conneely was unmarkable. Shane McCann gone you could see a place for Mark McCormack also. Was very impressed by Paddy Potterton also in midfield. You need good representation from your club champions, same with Kiltale. Hopefully Mark O'Sullivan can be tempted in along with the Hughes lad at corner back.

I think being dropped off the panel was the biggest thing that coaxed Burke away from the footballers....

Think the Farrell lad and the young keeper from Dunderry might be a good addition. The keeper could be one for the future with a bit of good coaching

Riordan from ratoath or ennis from trim were mcgans understudies over last year or two and best options , very big shoes to fill but best of luck to them , riordan would be my choice.

Surprised at no meath men involved but mayby nobody was interested

Antrim at home and Wicklow away in the group stage. Top two qualify for the semi final.

First round of the league is against Offaly in Birr. A tough opener.
Rd 1: Offaly v Meath
Rd 2: Meath v Wicklow
Rd 3: Meath v Kerry
Rd 4: Antrim v Meath
Rd 5: Meath v Mayo

Should realistically be winning at least 2 of the home games, and maybe even all 3. Of course Kerry will be tough but hopefully they will be able to give them a good game in Trim.
