Meath GAA Songs

(Oldest Posts First)

I have been thinking lately about a song but did Meath have a song in the build up to an all Ireland in either 99 or 01 to the theme of mambo number 5

Yes, vaguely remember, I'll have a good think and hopefully remember later on. 01 I think, could be wrong.

Remember 'DJ Otzi - hey baby' was huge in the summer of 01 as well and became a regular on the hill as well beside the old nally divide.

Great days that seem a lifetime ago now. A mixture of golden ages on the pitch, emigration in the county, and football changing for the worse as we know it all over really. We had a great time on the comeback years of two semis and a Leinster but the problem since is younger generations haven't had the chance to experience this, due to the above, and become essentially lost as they find other things to take up their time. Not just us, look at the Super 8's from the weekend.

When I first started going as a kid I was blown away and instantly hooked by the noise, the colour, the passion - if I was from Kildare and went on Sunday as a kid, I wouldn't be in a rush back. That all falls on the GAA.
