Walkovers in Championship

(Oldest Posts First)

How can a team qualify for a preliminary Q/F and go through on a walkover go out and concede a walkover in the quarter final? Very unfair on the team beaten by them in the group stage to the third spot (on 2 points score difference). Surely some action should be taken. Doesn't help the team into the semi final by walkover either.

In the preliminary quarter final, Nobber got a walkover from Na Fianna . Then in the quarter final Nobber gave Kilbride a walkover

Suppose it can come down to players being used in the first team, players moving abroad, injuries etc

I think some clubs in particular take the easy option in league games when they are without a good few players and instead of taking a hiding they forfeit the points, which is all well and good for them if they are in mid-table security... but if can have a major impact on other clubs who are effected by the result of that particular game. When clubs in Division 1 & 2 of the A-league are giving walk overs there is something seriously and this has been the case on a couple of occasions over the last few years.

If in league (or championship at the group stages) a team gives a walk-over I think not only should they lose the two points for that particular match but they should be deducted another 2 points for giving a walkover, i think this would reduce the amount of walk-overs dramatically.

It appears that the county committee may have messed up.
When they sent out the master fixtures planner the quarter final was down for this coming Sunday, and Nobber planned accordingly only for the CCC to move the game forward a week.
Apparently ot is being looked at with a view to being refixed, which is only fair.

Any team giving a walkover should go into the following years competition with a points penalty deficit of an average of the number of points they conceded in their other games or fifty points.
Too many teams taking the easy way out to save face at the expense of others.
