County Hurlers/ football championship

(Oldest Posts First)

Would anybody know how and under what circumstances the county hurling team might cause a delay to the football championship?

If they win there next game or are they dependent on results elsewhere as well.
Would westmeath be as strong as laois?

Surely there is no chance of a delay. The reason that the start of championship was moved to late may was so that they could lay out the planner with "certainty". Are you saying that the Co board might actually have made a mess of things ?????

I believe the 1st round of championship starts same weekend as the qualifiers from the round robins play wexford and offaly

I was told on Friday that if they beat Laois then there'd be no football til August. If that's correct then presumably the same applies if they beat Westmeath and qualify for the Leinster proper. I really don't think this county board can afford another controversy over fixtures etc. I'm slightly baffled as to why we haven't had a couple of rounds of championship already so if something happens to push it back even further then it'll be another mess.

One partial solution which HAS to happen urgently is reducing the number of teams in the SFC. I can't believe we are still looking at an 18-team championship.

If we get through the round robin the next set of fixtures is down for the week after our first round of club championship. Would they really call it off?

There's a s..tstorm coming if we beat Westmeath and to b honest I think they will.but maybe its needed for clubs and the delegates to wake up and act accordingly. It smelled from the off seeing champ in may again they thought hurlers do nothing. Mess after mess

We are two weeks away from the first round of the football championship and no fixtures out. Club players/mentors are treated like crap year after year. Would be great if they could have an idea what day their club is playing so they could organise work and their families. Not much to ask for

If Hurlers win and Laois win then the hurlers play on sunday the 28th of May, their will be no championship football played the week before .
Will Andy let all his squad play football 14 days before leinster first round ??? he has not let them play with clubs since the finish of the league. I dowbt very much that football championship first round will be played the weekend of the 21st. If they do go ahead when will the second round be ?

Cant really blame Andy McEntee or the hurlers. Senior and Intermediate could go ahead with a bit of tweaking but sure the Junior draw has yet to take place now that MESS is down to our brilliant administrators. But when they cannot get a simple matter as a championship structure/draw right it is surely beyond them to get the championship up and running with games not involving the hurling panel. So lets hope the hurlers win and that will really test our administrators. After all they will have to improve dramatically when the rule mandating that the All Ireland club championships MUST be completed within the calendar year. So it will be a good dry run for them.

What are the chances Meath will actually get into the Leinster championship, I would have thought they were fairly low but I wouldn't know a lot about hurling.

Let the lads play. You see from yesterday in the hurling lads need match be it club or county. Nothing brings you on better than a game. Let the County lads play at least half a match with there clubs. Without the club the county is nothing and the little making of clubs will catch up on the County setup
