The impressive facilities at Ashbourne

Following the huge success of Strictly Donaghmore Ashbourne both last year and in 2015, Donaghmore Ashbourne GAA is hosting its highly anticipated LipSync Battle fundraiser on Saturday 23rd September.

The show takes place in the Donaghmore Ashbourne GAA Club Arena with 98fm's Adrian Kennedy stepping once again as host on the night. Rehearsals have been in full swing for the last number of weeks with around 30 players, committee members, parents and club supporters readying themselves to perform as their favourite singers and groups on the night.

Among the many performers are Golf Society Captain Paulo Sousa and club hurler Cathal Byrne who have teamed up to perform as The Proclaimers. We also have members of our intermediate ladies football team Aoife O'Rourke, Riain O'Keeffe, Michelle Peel, Siofra Cleary along with Rebecca Walton coming together to bring back some of that nineties cheese when they perform 'Wannabe' by the Spice Girls.

Joe Synnott and Frank Donovan are Ant and Dec. Mark Power as Elvis. Deirdre McElearney and Marion Timmons will have a storming song as the Weather Girls. Ashbourne Community School will be well represented on the night with many former pupils performing but all eyes will be on school secretary Edel O'Grady when she takes to the stage with her ABBA band members, Dave Power, Charles Bobbett and Aideen Ward, to perform one the Swedish group's many hit singles.

Shaking things up on the night will be former club footballer turned rugby player, Daragh Curran, who has returned to the club to shine on the stage rather than the pitch, albeit performing as Beyoncé! Ready to 'Stand and Deliver' as Adam Ant on the night will be Paul Redmond of The Barber Shop, Garden City, who is our main event sponsor. Peter Higgins, Darragh McGill and Jason Harte are the Bee Gees.

Suzanne Treacy as Robert Palmer. Barbara Baitson as Debbie Harry. Shane and Stephen Fenton with Stephen carton and Thomas Burnell as Bruno Mars to raise the roof with uptown Funk. James Keogh as Elsa. And Deirdre Preston-Byrne to finish off the night as Tina Turner. With all these acts an LipSync Donaghmore Ashbourne is set to be an unmissable night of entertainment.

Tickets are €20 available from any of the performers and from the club reception on 01 849 9140 or [email protected]. A huge thank you goes out to all of our performers, our LipSync committee, Kevin Rowe Events, our main event sponsor The Barber Shop Garden City and all of the other local businesses, clubs and associations who have sponsored the event - thank you for your continued support.
