Bective/ Dunsany 1-15 Jenkinstown Gaels 4-05

Bective/ Dunsany overcame a strong Jenkinstown Gaels challenge in this MFC Division 4 contest.

Bective Dunsany started brightest and got the scoreboard moving early on with a series of well worked points before Jenkinstown Gaels finally got off the mark from a free. The home side stayed in control for most of the half with David Boyle (3) and Eoin Harkin (2) contributing greatly. The Bective/ Dunsany defence dealt with most of what was thrown their way in the first half although they did concede a sloppy goal late in the half.

Bective Dunsany continued where they left off after the break with some fluid attacking moves and early points from Aaron O'Connor and the Dowdall brothers, Neil and Mark. Jenkinstown Gaels didn't lie down and they battled on tirelessly and were rewarded with two goals in quick succession midway through the half to stay in touch. During this period Bective/ Dunsany put some fine attacking moves together and when Alex Smith sent a rasper into the net the boys in red were looking comfortable.  However they were pegged back again by a battling Jenkinstown Gaels side and were on the rack after a penalty was awarded and was duly dispatched late on. This left a single point between the sides and demanded a resolute defence to hold out for two minutes before the sanctuary of the final whistle.

This was a heartening display from this Bective/ Dunsany side who now face another combination side, St. Michael's/ Nobber in the quarter final.
